Quin's latest RIP how is GGG not embarassed into improving the games spike dmg and signaling?
"What was that conclusion? Overlapping AoE attack damage from LegionMarakethGeneralMortar? And yes this game could use a 'Death log'. Had a recent death in SC and no idea what caused it. This IME happens a lot on no evasion builds that are made to tank random things in maps. And I usually dont know what actually caused it. This was in a white area (safehouse XP area, -10% unfortunately) too. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

I literally watched it once and could tell that he died from overlapping explosive arrow explosions fired by the Maraketh legion general.
So I dunno who these "top streamers" are you've been consulting but I'm pretty sure what you meant to say was "nobody and I made this up." |

On the first glance it looks to me like his molten shell exploded and he got killed by reflect. But i am sure that is not the case, because it is easy to figure out if stuff like that happens.
Might not have been the explosion from the molten shell, well whatever... Last edited by Strickl3r#3809 on Sep 8, 2023, 7:08:51 AM

"Molten Shell itself does reflect damage which cant be reflected back. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

I mean why do i have to name streamers you all should know if you're remotely in touch with the game? If you know Quin then you also know Ben, Steel, Ziz etc.... honestly none of them had an absolute take they all waffled between possibilities and some rando forum ppl who think they're the real experts drawing firm conclusions when those guys weren't immediately and confidently 100% in agreement. Just supports my point.
A point you guys are missing in your zest to posture and doubt and be contrarian to something self evidently true. When some of the best players aren't absolutely sure, and some forum rando's have their own theories (I think one of you is actually correct BTW but again thats irrelevant)... Well that just proves the games signaling, TTL and visual clarity are terrible. The only way the game could be described as fairly signaled and balanced is if we all (or at least decently skilled players) immediately understood what happened and also we all had a reasonable human reaction time interval to counter play the situation. Thanks for the help proving my point though guys, even if you were actually trying to apologize away bad game balance. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4. If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. Does it REALLY truly matter "exactly" what killed him? He has 4 debuffs on him...there are chaos corpse explosions going off, he is getting hit by explosive arrows, he is getting hit by REGULAR arrows and attacks, and he is standing there looting.
He got hit by a perfect storm of many different things. Shit happens. There is no "puzzle" here. And if these multiple things happened simultaneously, they likely got calculated in the graphic as happening nearly instantaneously, thus why it looks like a 1hko. If these "top" streamers are debating this, it is 100% posturing. There is no debate to be had. One might say "explosive arrows", one might say "corpse explosions", one might point out the debuffs or some other crap. But at the end of the day, ALL of those things happened and he chose to just stand there and loot. Pause at the exact second his health bar starts to move toward zero (I paused when he was at the last 4th of life), and you see basically 5 different things hitting him at the same time, with 4 debuffs active. The problem is not "death log"...the problem is the sheer amount of bs being thrown at the player at any given moment and the RATE they are thrown at us. These "pros" know what their builds are weak to. There is not a single build that is totally immune to anything. So the answer to "what did I die to?" is simple: a combo of all the things you aren't 100% protected against. A death log is going to give you all this information and...what are you going to do about it? A guy at Quin's level, in HC, KNOWS what goes into making a defensive build. There is likely not much else defensively he could have done even WITH exact info, apart from moving...so what's the point? Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Sep 9, 2023, 3:10:16 PM

1) a death log would help but as i said, the deathlog right now is recording your game and going topoedb.
2) steelmage solved it already. doing marakech and betrayal at the same time was a bad idea, so Quinn shouldnt ve done it. so it s more about knowing what to not do BEFORE doing it. I would prefer ofc adeath log to look after and see the damage ingame. 3) and also standing there looting was not smart. Last edited by SerialF#4835 on Sep 9, 2023, 6:59:28 PM
