I recently re-installed the game and when i reached lioneye's i found myelf surrounded by some surrealist garbage. Wings as big as the screen and some other visuals that would make Diablo 3 blush. They are ugly, tacky, means nothing (since those characters could be naked and lvl 2), betrays any semblance of integrity the setting is supposed to have and clutters the screen for everyone else.
PoE1 is kind of a lost cause at this point but at least try to tone it down a bit for PoE2, please! It could be even better if you found a way to tie visuals to the itemization itself but at least keep the tone consistent, it really takes people out the game.

I completely agree with you. It looks god-awful and tanks performance to boot. Wish we had a button to turn off that fugly stuff. It's fine if the owners want to look at the bling-bling, but why should everybody else? I'd like an OPTION to avoid it. Would make doing Heist and other hub zones more bearable.
If you think that graphic is an issue to performance, you are free to turn of the game. You are free to not see them if you dont want to (except a few seconds in Town). If it takes people out of the game. Trust me I would have bought wings to get rid of all whining people getting off the game!

Those are paying for the free game you are playing. Might not wanna forget that xD Most of the time playing this game is by yourself in maps or sitting in hideout sorting items. People buy and wear what they feel like. It doesn't matter what you feel about it xD

If you feel it breks your immersion you can pay up and host a private league. You can then tell people to not wear cosmetics if they wanna join. Problem solved
I really liked your answer. Never thought of private league but yes, thats perfect. The best solution and not even questionable. Few creativity answers around. Feel like my own is just getting one way ticket out if they don't like it. Thanks for indirectly reminder.
If we are here complaining then, yes it affects our enjoyment of the game, which goes beyond pressing click a bunch of times. Nobody wants to see your garbage MTX wings dude, it's just annoying to everyone else. Just allow people to toggle that garbage off, we want to look at people's actual gear and not have our screens filled with rainbow vomit.

I just found out that I met Sin. Is he lore or is it just someone playing him? And I bet there is strange mobs. Those big sentinels we have as minions. look like the wings in fact.

But this post was all about Sin from beginning.

Yeah, a toggle off option would be so great. You could at least see the game's actual gear instead of technicolor vomit.

Other option could be to redesign the way cosmetics work in the game and make them more part of the itemization. A different way to handle cosmetics (aside from designing them to be less over the top), especially in a game like this where trade and community are so important, you could:

-You buy/earn cosmetics and are added to your library of available ones.
-You apply them directly to a corresponding item (maybe using a currency).
-You can later trade that item if you want.

If you add some way of name personalization and make the currency relatively rare you can create some interesting tradable community customized things. You could find an incredible item, apply some troll visual and corrupt it, or have some awesome perfect armor that looks amazing on the market. Feels more involved and interesting than just throwing random junk.

Obviously, you wouldn't be able to do that in PoE1, but PoE2 is a fresh start and they could approach cosmetics in a more engaging way. But apparently it'll be rainbow vomit from the get go.

Yes it most probably will be, and what's more, a random vomit from the get go is exactly the way to go. Lighting tendrils, just an example, look and fit much better to some kind of mtx lighting half god, or kind of already powerful mage or sth, than to a guy without pants fresh out of saltwater. PoE magic is one of the most, if not the most ridiculous on the market, and PoE 2 doesn't seem to tone it down that much.

Also, you say some people hate it the way it is, and are kept away or sth. Well if mtx went the way you describe, I'd be out, so goes both ways heh.
The thing is with applying MTX directly to items...its very oldschool.
Back in the days of the first MTX, there were no cosmetic tab.
You had to apply the design directly onto the item and could only sell/trade it, when you removed the design.
So your idea is pretty old and not helpful in any way today.
Who cares if it's old school, do i have to remind you where poe got half it's ideas? Final fantasy 7 + Diablo 2, 20 year old games.

Applying it to items would at least create an interesting system and make it more involved than just selecting stuff in menu, not everything needs to be directed to hyperactive zoomers that need epileptic warnings just to enjoy the visuals.

But whatever you don't like it, fine. Just add a cosmetic toggle off option for people who want a more conservative look to things and you can go on enjoying being as flamboyant and tacky as you want.
An button to toggle on/off the cosmetics seems fine.

And yes i know where all the ideas comes from...i play Diablo since 1997 and played many games in the same artwork and style.
But i dont mind if someone just want to show of.
The problem with PoE1 is, that there are not many appealing designs withing the non-MTX category.
A few armor pieces, a few weapons and thats it.
I dont want to spend my whole playtime running around with an bucket on my head, for example.
If someone, like you, enjoy the look of those ugly basic armors, sure. Go for it.
Not going to happen though. Personally, I don't care whether people see my stuff or not, but it was clearly stated in mtx presentations, that being seen by others is a part of it. Even in the last one, the highest tier there was a currency char effect with commentary like, "show other players that you are one of the few who used a mirror of Kalandra" or sth.

And yes, the worst part of the mtx thing is how bad a lot of standard stuff looks, including technically like worse textures, so not only bland but also muddy etc. It's a bit of a cheap shot and hopefully won't be as apparent in PoE 2.

As for tacky and flamboyant, actually there's a lot of interesting and tasteful usage of mtx around, sure together in hubs is a bit much sometimes, though I don't mind a proper glow explosion here or there heh. Anyway some PoE mtx are really beautiful and OPs bashing of it, how it's garbage trash sth sth, is clearly based on emotions and delusions about some visual integrity that's not really there, no matter mtx or not.

That's the point. You could have the mtx visuals applied directly to items instead via a currency or some other system. Those could be tradable and customized or even corrupted, creating a whole more interesting market around them. Sure, you that purchased the mtx, you can apply them to whatever you are wearing at the time. But having some cost would at least mean that if you are wearing something flamboyant it was on something worth the transmog, while now seeing someone wearing cosmetics is just noise. Think how you could transmog some perfect armor with a dumb visual and corrupt it and then sell it, or some really high-power gear with the edge of having some interesting visual attached. It will add much more value to mtx other than meaninglessly just wearing them.

The simpler option though, would be to simply add an option to toggle visuals off, so i can enjoy the buckets on everybody while you enjoy your mtx hell. I don't need to see other people showing off how bad their taste in visuals are.
