This game and poe2 will NEVER EVER hit a million players period.

Hard to assume anything else, when:

You do know what neutral is, right? Just being thorough.

It's a dedicated effort in which they are forced to do if they want to keep their numbers up. Simple as that.
if POE becomes similar to D4, i'm done with POE... I hate it when devs dumb down games.I stopped playing some games because devs dumbed them down to attract new players.

one of my favorite mmo of all time is Guildwars. The devs dumbed down Guildwars 2 and i completely lost interest in it.

i will stop playing street fighter if capcom ever dumbed it down too. Some games are just not for everyone. I may not get very good at some games, but i like the challenge.

PoE is a good game, but I still like Diablo II more. For the following reasons:

- the game overcomplicated beyond measure, skill tree with hundreds of nodes, numerious remnants of previous leagues in maps and especially crafting, convoluted atlas and so on. At the moment you need to spend 100 hours just to figure the basis of everything in the game. Crafting more or less is useless, it is much cheaper to buy 6 link than craft it myself.

- endgame is locked behind trading, trading in game is pain in the butt. To finish the atlas, you need trade maps and gear. I don't trade because I don't want constant requests while mapping (and who does?), so I usually run yellow maps and finish.

- the game is not about loot, it is about junk. I find junk, trade it to vendors, get low currency and buy loot. During all my time in PoE I found ONE good item. That's it. Playing Diblo II Resurected for several month I've got enigma, windforce, arachnid mesh, and bunch of powerfull runewords. You play Diablo II and actually find items, not buy them.

-Constant nerfs of everything every several month. I often can't even get to 90+ level before my char got nerfed, and nerfed bad.

i don't considered myself an expert POE player. i'm just a casual, but I have found plenty of good items. i don't understand everything about poe, but it's not rocket science.

D2 is good and i am a long time diablo player since D1 in the 90's, but D2 gets extremely shallow after you get the high tier runes. almost every items in the game become useless. D2 is super shallow compared to POE.

I think it's a skill issue you're having. i can hit lvl 90 in poe in a matter of days and i'm just a casual.
