10% XP penalty death is rought now with 5 ways nerf
Hi,
I understand the nerf of 5 ways that was barely an exploit to level his character but GGG should understand the frustration of loosing XP with death that doesn't exist on other games. I leveled several char to lvl 100 : some with 5 ways and some by playing very very carefully. For sure, XP with 5 ways is ridiculous and boring but leveling to 100 on a regular way requires : - to limit you to a tanky character - to level maps with fews mods - to avoid pinacle bosses ... and all this is as boring as doing 5 ways. The massive nerf to 5 ways would be more accepted if the 10% was reduced to 5 % after level 90. Or if the option was given to player : do you prefer a 10% XP penalty or to pay X chaos based on the level ? Last bumped on Oct 5, 2023, 3:35:23 PM

If anything, GGG did a great service to 5way providers and possibly RMT providers. Current combat state + exp penalty still means leveling to 100 by "normal play" is impossible unless
" So demand for 5way remains the same, but you'd need more runs to get to 100 now, and with Legion "rework" also here, I doubt providers will lower their prices. In short, pushing players down with more ruthless penalties still won't make them play "as intended", thank you very much GGG. |

If you want to get high level you need to play a good build. As it should be. glass cannons have the downfall of dying easy. Once you learn the mechanics of the game and how to build defense against everything you can get quite tanky as long as you aren't playing while too tired. Most peoples problems is they want 50m+ dps and to never die. Its really not all that easy to do with modest currency

Indeed, you describe how it should be in hardcore arpg with a death penalty. But this is poe. "Build defense against everything" is only for those who know the content by heart, and especially how to fit all that into a build and still have some damage.
Yet even tanky characters in poe can get suddenly killed in 0.2 sec after striding though 20 copies of same juiced content without ever losing more than 10% eHp. I ranted about it 100+ times and can say it again: poe1 is not balanced enough to have such steep ratio of exp gain/exp penalty on latest character levels. Yes, you can blame it all on the player, but not everyone is comfortable with treating this game like a real full-time job, which is what it takes to play poe carefully. Another nod of respect to hardcore players here, you guys are really supernatural beings. |

You know, 5-ways are gone as we knew them, but there is always a next best way to level that was slightly worse before but not as bad as the xp in the 3.22 5-way. Which in 2 weeks will be advertised on discord for a fee for service.
May be Chayula runs, might be something to do with Abyss tech, we shall see. |

Good, I'm glad 5-ways are going away. I hope they do breachstones next. I hate the idea that I have to seek people specifically farming exp in order to reach level 100. We shouldn't have to resort to this.
Now I wish GGG did something to make 100 more feasible for solo players, regardless if they keep exp penalty or not. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! there is no AN combination that isnt beatable on a reasonable build without dying as long as you are reasonable geared for the content you run
the exception to this can be new league content (i.e. 100% channled crucible monsters, they are broken) if you want to level, you dont really have to do much -read map mods and reroll,if to dangerous or anyoing for your build -if you still lack gear or power from passive tree, skip rares if they are too strong for your current powerlevel -dont do bosses you arent used to kill, non uber bosses arent a problem when you know the fights -dont do "uber non boss content" i.e. deeep delve, simulacrum wave 26+ to make it short: dont do stupid things when your build isnt rdy for it there are a lot of things that migth feel "unfair" when they kill you,but those are avoidable 99% of the time a lot of them are a result of content before and after the situation beeing not dangerous enough and players not focusing enough on the game |

they are never going to completely remove the ability to level up via a service entirely if they stick with past trends they will nerf it into line but only once in a while, like some have said there's a few easy methods they can use to level people up they just might not be "stand here til you hit 100"
It was called out during Legion by numerous individuals here on the forums that this would become such a problem. Innocence forgives you Last edited by SilentSymphony#3358 on Aug 12, 2023, 2:58:38 PM
