GGG Just Cannot Win

Soooo…. People cry when there are few changes to skills/builds other than the a couple broken outliers.

Patches where there are major “balance” changes people cry that the build that they put X currency and time into is destroyed and GGG has no respect for their pixels.

Which is it folks? Leave my build alone or shake it up? You cannot have both.

Tired of the “meta”? Then don’t play the same builds. Play something harder or less common for a change. Try SSF if you need a challenge or if you are SSF try trade for a change. There are so many options to solve the puzzle that is PoE, try them!

Sanctum going core is great, the new auto battler looks interesting, new support gems offer more choices not less, even if they are DOA for replacements in “meta” builds they open up some interesting options for boutique builds. They also can temporarily close gaps in early mid game until you can gear up and cover those gaps.

Honestly, folks need to do a bit of introspection on their own behavior and check their expectations of a title that has provided over a decade of quality entertainment.

The reality is that change is coming. Full stop. It is inevitable. The fact that GGG has used PoE: Legacy to take risks and test mechanics and systems to streamline and perfect the next evolution of the ARPG genre is visionary and I for one have been happy to participate in it. Especially if it will lead to better gaming experience, which from the footage of Exilecon it will.

As a members of this community it’s either time to lead the charge in championing the changes on the horizon, follow along quietly, or just leave.

That is a pretty bad take. It's good if we're in a cult and blindly following, but otherwise providing constructive feedback should always be welcomed.

The tantrum style response isn't great, but that's not the only voice happening right now.
Thanks for all the fish!
I would put constructive feedback in the championing the change category.

It’s is okay to give a “hey, one of the downstream consequences of X change is that X (item, skill, support) no longer works, would you mind revisiting that interaction in a future patch.”

That is not what is happening on Twitter, Reddit, or this forum.

What is happening is folks are taking any changes personally as if they are referendums on who they are, instead of seeing changes or lack thereof as a chance to revisit the puzzle, looking for opportunities to overcome or circumvent the change. Or if this options are exhausted try to attack the puzzle from an entirely new direction.

The answer is so simple really. Just buff a bunch of bottom tier skills for real for a change. I mean with many of them there isn't even a risk of power creep even with significant buffs because they are so far behind.

It should be obvious that always nerfing everything doesn't make people happy, losing things you used to have is never a happy thing even if you might be able to understand why you have to give up on it.
Just doing nothing is obviously better but not that great at all, especially if you've done nothing but nerfs or nothing for years already.

You've got to raise people up from time to time by giving them what they want. We all understand nerfs are needed but applying them constantly for years will obviously cause dissatisfaction

You're right, they can't.

PoE is in a pretty unique situations, as it has existed for over a decade. Some of us has been here since its infancy, others have come during its "power creep prime", while other are more or less new. Some wants to keep its current identity, some wants it to go back to the sluggish early years, while others don't give a fuck, and only waits for PoE 2.

No matter what they do, there will ALWAYS be haters and praisers, because people want different things from the game. People just don't know what to expect, mainly because of radio silence and a total lack of communication from GGG on certain matters. In addition, the yo-yo development/balancing over the years hasn't really helped either. Sometimes, it feels like GGG doesn't really know what they want the game to be - and have no long-term plan when it comes to balance or additions, just a league-to-league perspective, where PoE 2 testing is part of the ideas.

They HYPED this league, trying to get people to plan their vacations accordingly. They were ALWAYS going to lose if it wasn't a banger. But hey, for all we know, it can still be.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
Damn, hope GGG can sleep at night.
Second-class poe gamer
for me the patch notes were disappointing for a number of reasons:

1. no mention if the tatoos will be going to std or not

2. no direct melee improvements

3. the amount of ruthless changes mentioned.

and thats it.

i dont really care that nothing else significantly changed. i m a little happy to get new support gems to try out.

i dont expect much from this league as it was developed while they were busy with exilecon.

is it a free pass? to me yeah.

but at the same time, my expectations of GGG improving POE1 is really low. i've been waiting for them to fix melee. i can see how melee in POE2 is so damn good. its such a betrayal that POE2 gets em and POE1 gets nothing.

i kept soldiering on waiting for POE2 to save POE1. nope not happening.

after that, do we get anything significant to help melee? not really no. except to bitch about ruthless.

the way i see it, diablo 4 players hate it whenever blizz shows any news about diablo immortal. theyre there all hyped up to get more news on d4. not di.

the patch notes had a huge bulk dedicated to ruthless. a mode that many people dont like.

also, its a reminder how this "side project" was actually laying the foundations for poe2.

truth be told i m not disappointed with the patch notes. i dont participates

From the looks of your badges you've been around for a lot longer than me, but I am reasonably sure that GGG has never really mentioned if a league goes core before it even started.

Isn't that something that tends to be revealed closer to the end of the league, like it happened just recently with Crucible?

were in the tail end of crucible which after ascendancies is probably the biggest buff to player power that has ever been added to the game in a league.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
