The simple truth about Poe1 and Poe2
" They decided to not tell us because it was not final. They could have changed their mind half way again and what then? Also who told you that PoE1 will not get any facelift like graphics? If you really care about that stuff you will play PoE2 for it because thats how PoE1 would be if they didnt split them. I really dont understand the problem here. You complain that PoE1 will not be rebuilt to be PoE2 and you will have old and new systems at the same time. Thats what you basically complain about. You are not happy to have a choice instead of being forced, like WTF dude. Last edited by kuciol#0426 on Aug 6, 2023, 2:02:19 AM

"Hopefully you mean something like currency orbs rather than store points you bought? |

" Everything you say here, is speculation. "Because it wasn't final". "That's what PoE would've been". You don't know this. You suspect this. First off, Jonathan said he "personally knew the games HAD to split after the Act 2 trailer". Secondly, they split the game to make more changes, because the project had become "so much bigger". So everything you say, is just wrong. Thirdly, PoE and PoE 2 will still have the same engine/platform, so there are still "old and new systems". I get it, you don't understand the problem. Good for you. Everyone can't understand everything. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Its not speculation when the original plan was to make PoE1 as seen at current gamplays, thats what you are lamenting about. All the changes seen in PoE2 were meant to be 4.0. Thats what we have seen even on first Exilecon. Gameplay was supposed to look the same for both games. All the fundamental changes were meant to be like that from the very begining but they decided to keep the old game as is. Not slow it down, not change socket system and itemization (because you have to change both), not force having joined engame. Thats what the split trully means, we keep both instead of forcefull transormation of PoE1 into PoE2 gameplay so you will have a choice of what you prefer. Not having PoE1 campaign with PoE2 mechanics is such a big deal? Last edited by kuciol#0426 on Aug 6, 2023, 5:48:09 AM

" You do know you're playing an ActionRPG right?? If you were expecting anything other then a grind you're playing the wrong genre. aRPG's have always been about killing mobs to get loot, playing the gacha game hoping it's good and that you struck gold then going right back to killing more mobs. As for all the other people in this forum, you all make it sound like they explicitly said they promised PoE and PoE 2 were going to be the same client, they never promised a thing and it was never final, that was back in 2019 for christ sake. Get over it. Last edited by firenovix#6291 on Aug 6, 2023, 6:41:15 AM

Some people like grindy games, others don't. In other news: water is wet.
I played this league only for ~30 hours because of a lot of overtime at work for the last couple of months. Usually I put in about ~150h during a league. Even though 30h is nothing to get anywhere in the game, and I didn't achieve much in terms of currency or character progression, I still had crazy amounts of fun simply playing the game, running maps etc. The game is fun to me. For others it might not be, and that's OK. But it's not some kind of universal truth. |
|
" That was not "the plan", and if you'd pay attention you'd know that. The scope of changes had become "so much bigger" that they had to split the games. So if they hadn't, the scope would've been "so much smaller", and we probably wouldn't see so drastic changes, with dodge rolls, overly-focused combination sequences and tremendously long cast times - because several hundred existing skills would be near impossible to mechanically change to fit the new "style". The gameplay/changes we saw in 2019 was nowhere NEAR this. And yes, I actually see it as a big deal. We were told that the game I play and care about would see a lot of mechanical and graphical improvements. The socket system was meant for both parts of the game, and it was implied that so were the updated animations and models too. They even started updating the old acts, something that suddenly stopped, which I suspect was when they knew they had to split. So, in short; the game I play, care about and have supported for a decade suddenly gets 'nothing', even though a lot was being shown in 2019. All changes are pushed to a game I don't play, and that I frankly don't care about, at least not yet. Sure, if they didn't split, the game would probably still slow down a bit, but it (probably) wouldn't look anything like what we saw now. You already told me you don't understand. It's OK. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I dont understand because the only thing you lost is PoE1 campaign with PoE2 mechanics. Endgame was meant to be shared so there is no way around that.
The core changes were meant to be universal so the game would play as seen on first exilecon. It was close to what we see on PoE2 currently. It was like this and you wont bend reality. They just played different class and different skills. They stopped the changes in poe1 because poeple complained, thats all there is to it. Most players didnt want those changes in PoE1 so they HAD to split. As for graphical and animation changes we may still get them. But the game will play as PoE1 not PoE2. |

" Yeah from what I've heard from one of the interviews is that the character animations are unlikely (but not a 'no', they just expressed it would be a huge undertaking) but a number of interviews/panels seemed to point that the poe2 graphical upgrades will be shared where possible. Seems to me that those who want the poe2 QoL and new campaign/classes have that, and ppl who prefer the current progression and gameplay/build style have poe1. |

" He said that she used to like Poe 2 years ago. Now I'm not a math professor or sth but that seems to be 5, so much much worse. Hey little one, how's that lunaris temple going, oh it's just like kindergarten, sweet. Last edited by Rabarbar_Lichy#7553 on Aug 11, 2023, 1:11:05 PM
