The simple truth about Poe1 and Poe2

You can define "promises" as you like. We're not in second grade, where it's not a promise as long as you don't say "I promise" with an over-feminine voice. Doesn't matter if it's a promise or not; they built our hopes up by TELLING us X would happen, letting us support the game for years based on that X, and then they decided not to.

They just decided it will be better for the game, both games. You have seen what happended when they tried to slow PoE down. The shitstorm that happended back then still echoes on this forum. It is better that way to have those games separate.

Better for some people, sure. I'm not debating that. We all know "they just decided". They also "decided" to not tell us about it for years, even though they've "decided" to split - letting all the PoE 1 players that wanted better graphics, new animations, new socket system and so on support the game in good faith based on that info. Even people stripped of empathy can relate to that being... Kinda... BS.

I have absolutely no problem with PoE 2 being a separate game. What I have a problem with, is PoE 1 ("my" game and the game I know I like) not getting the face lift "promised", because "they just decided to...".

The world will go on, both games will be playable (at least for a while). It's not the end of the world. But still, it is... Kinda... BS.

Lesson learned. We now know we can't take ANYTHING the Devs tell us as a firm commitment. All communications are subject to change without notice. =9[.]9=

It was Content Creators & Streamers who pushed this speed meta, not the players in general.

GGG blaming us for the zoom problem is really insulting, They created Headhunter, Mageblood and all the other speed toys out there, not us.

They allowed speed to overtake everything else, where did the depreciating gains go Chris? did you mean our return on investment would have depreciating gains?

Didn't they even say so? It was "because of Mark" that the game got so zoomy?

Herein lies the problem many folks face. PoE:Legacy….is….not……your……game.

You are granted access to it and are allowed to enjoy it, but it is not yours. It’s Chris Wilson’s et al.

You are a guest, who is allowed to come and go as you please, and you are even allowed to buy a wardrobe and special underwear to don when you stay.

Ultimately, the owner gets to decide when and how to redecorate at their discretion without any input from you.

The only agency you have is whether you will continue to visit. I hope that you do visit, it’s still a great space to explore, but please try and disassociate yourself from any sense of permanency. Especially in a live service game.

Your answer is based on what I choose to call the game I play? What I meant by "my game", was that the game I play (and want to play) is PoE 1, not some distant game I frankly know nothing about (because everything changes without them telling us). I even used quotation marks around "my", so it sould be easy to understand that I know it isn't my game. Holy...

I know it's not "my game". I know I have no say over what my "support" is being used to fund. But when they deliberately chose not to tell us about the split, it does say something. They let every player fund a game they didn't really know about.

Once you give money to someone it’s no longer your money either.

If GGG/Tencent wants to take what used to be your funds and build a theme park in Timbuktu that you many or may not be able to visit is also at their discretion.

We are entitled to nothing. There is no bait and switch here. Most previews of during a development phase of any project come with a safe harbor statement that what you see may or may not be reflected in the final product.

The developers may have had intentions to make PoE:The Search for More Money an expansion and during the course of the project the scope kept growing to the point where they, as project leaders, felt that for the health of both games that PoE:The Search for More Money was better off being a stand alone.

I’m sorry that you have these feelings. It’s just a game.

That's basically just what I wrote. I give up.
