Mandatory ruthless in poe2 will be massive fail..
PoE2 graphics look amazing. But the main problem I have with the game is, it doesn't look like a PoE game. Continuity is important, and is the reason D3 and D4 are absolute fails, they have no design continuity with the classics.

" love Jonathan rogers take on flask refill, going to town make sense. He forgot a decade of poe1 killing mobs to refill is a better system. Thats the guy designing poe2, a diablo5 design is coming not a poe2 design |

" Diablo 5 will have 1 class 1 skill so casuals will not have to worry about wrong choices + 10,000 exp per second. Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"
I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like. |

" I think the point is that it is extremely over the top to say it = ruthless regardless of whether you like it or not. The demo was nothing like ruthless which makes people's valid concerns just get swept under the rug by this tsunami of eye rolling. |

Right, POE2 and ruthless are not alike at all. It won't have a crafting bench or movement skills but that's just a coincidence. Same for gold, pure coincidence that ruthless was used as a test case for a POE 2 feature.
Stuff like having to talk to a fountain instead of a vendor to refill flasks also sets them apart clearly. Having total trash gear and mostly 1 or 2 links more than halfway through the campaign is also totally like normal POE game play and who among us isn't used to fight area bosses during the campaign for 10+ minutes during league start? Happens to all of us, every time. I can't even count the number of times i had to escape to town using a portal while fighting brutus in order to refill my flasks. Why do people even talk about this? One game is called POE - ruthless mode while the other is POE 2, it should be clear from this that those 2 aren't the same thing, some coincidental similarities don't change that.
Spoiler
If anyone happens to find sarcasm in this post, that's just pure coincidence and not intended at all

" The people claiming there isn't some influence are outright wrong. The people acting like it is basically ruthless are likely also wrong. At least for now. We don't know enough about the game to really field a good guess. And after the 2019 to 2023 debacle, it's hard to even take them on their word about the things they've shown and said. Beta. That's when people will actually know. Thanks for all the fish!

" I'm one who claims that 'ruthless mode/league has no influence on PoE1 or PoE2'. Why? Because what people seem blind to is that the mode doesn't design the game - the designers do. Chris, Mike and Jon ARE ruthless in their approach. They are going to put in trade friction, they are going to try hard to kill players, they are going to nerf things, they are going to create scarcity, they are going to do all these super 'unpopular' things because they make the game they want to make with the vision they have. Ruthless, the mode, is just a sandbox outlet for testing with a larger group of people than what they have in house. Ruthless, the vision, predates the mode by a decade and isn't going anywhere. People need to cope with that. |

" What do you actually think Ruthless is? Kripp is "two-tapping" most rares there, and has decent gear. You're speaking as if you KNOW the progression curve. You're speaking as if you KNOW the scarcity level of gear. You're speaking as if you KNOW how powerful or deterministic crafting will be. Newsflash: You don't know, you saw the same ExileCon as everyone else. You can't deny that there are several links between PoE 2 and Ruthless when it comes to design and balance. Gold for vendors, one portal bosses, no crafting bench, "no" movement skills, overall slowed down game. Hell, they even stated in several interviews that Ruthless has been a testing ground for PoE 2. The one that needs to "chill" here is you. People are allowed to be skeptical, because most of them are actually PoE players - waiting for their favorite game to be updated and modernized, something that isn't happening. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

the fact that very few players play ruthless probably led to ggg keeing poe1.
let granddaddy "talk of the war": the "deal" at the time has been that d3 soaks up all the casuals on release which kindof worked until blizz greedsploded with their rmah, leading to krip bringing all the casuals into poe with him, changing the game to more casual lootsplosions. -- now d4 also failed it's purpose cause the real diablo creators probably got replaced by more marketing oriented guys and the casuals again fleeing into poe, changing the game as they come. they all need a solid base to be casual and that's poe1 :) age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" TF you're talking about, you didn't even play it yet LOL. You do realize the demo available for people at Exilecon was an unfinished overtuned version with lvl 45 characters with locked builds and subpar gear, right? |
