Is d4 really that bad?

this is not the right place to ask. its like going into mc donalds and asking the people who eat there every day if burger king is good or bad.

" Believe it or no the D4 forums are worse apparently. |

" people just hate blizzard, i doubt all the negativity even has anything to do with D4. no matter what blizzard puts out, people will hate on it Last edited by Lyutsifer665#1671 on Aug 1, 2023, 12:00:10 AM

" That's true. After their thing with female employees being treated badly they never really recovered. |

Game is decent, but progression falls off a cliff at lv. 70.
I only pray the first Diablo IV expansion is a home run, or else it's going to be standard fare for a long while ahead. Streaming Path of Exile on Twitch: Twitch.tv/ActionRPGs

I hit lvl100 on a Druid in D4 Season0. It's a shallow, boring console game for casuals -- and I don't mean that in an overtly negative, neckbeardy way... it's just obvious that their target audience is people playing on console with very little time on their hands. If you dive in and play for 45 minutes here and there and skip every other Season, then its pretty slick.
Could be good in a year or three when they exert a modicum of effort on the endgame. Last edited by Gescom#1904 on Aug 1, 2023, 12:34:35 AM

It's decent enough for a playthrough but it gets boring quite fast.
Talk to npc, npc moves 3 feet, talk to same npc again. Go to place X, talk to npc. kill some monsters, talk to the same guy again... |

" I haven't played myself (decided not to buy after open beta), but got two friends that did buy the game - one quit around level 50 in first week and didn't had motivation to play anymore - second one, diehard diablo fanboy, got around 70 and announced he will not play anymore to not burn out before season, then he didn't log in after two days of season. Was offline since then. He claims it was totally worth 100€ but doesn't look like that for me. In the end, you will have to make your own decision, look at the streams. Keep in mind you will be wearing same BIS uniques all the time - only thing that will change will be gearscore (same ones with higher stats) - not much depth in itemization there. Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed" I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like. " nah its just a really shit game. i played diablo1 since launch, diablo 2, diablo 3, i have played virtually every season of diablo 3. overwatch is probably the best pvp fps game every made. ive eaten in macdonalds, and burger king, most people who eat macdonalds also like burger king. most people who came to poe in 2013 played a diablo game first. people think its bad because its a really bad game. " im gonna disagree a bit with that. i think its far from perfect for those people. diablo 3 is a better game for those people, wolcen is probably a better game for them. the gameplay is awful, it feels really bad to play and it feels worst early on. the campaign is terrible, the early game progression is terrible. i dont think this game is perfect for anyone, from super casuals who just want to sink 20 hours into a game to super hardcore nerds who want to sink 20,000 hours imo this game is sub par for everyone. in my opinion the game is best when you are overpowered in endgame and the game is at its worst when you are lvl20 in the campaign. i hear a lot of people say the game is good for casuals but theyre playing the worst part of the game, and this is a game where the stats have super complicated maths behind them that means even a proper arpg vet has no real way to calculate on the fly by eye what the item stats are really doing for their character. its harder to understand your items in d4 than it is in poe or any other arpg out there really. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

D4 is a game that is about a year away from being ready for release. Half the skills and affixes don't work right or do laughable damage. 90% of the season 1 stuff is broken and doesn't work because they are so far behind. Lots of things are inconvenient just to waste player time. The lead devs don't play the game so they're winging it with regards to the changes they're making.
That being said the story mode is good as long as you don't think too deeply about it. The basic combat is worse than Diablo 3 but it's still decent. There are some fun builds. I played a Poison Creeper Druid in season 1 that automatically casts Landslide and it was fun from the point I got the aspect to ~level 80 when I ran out of stuff to do. There are definitely some similarities between PoE 2 and Diablo 4. I saw the dodge rolling and the Druid "trample" and I knew people would make that comparison right away. D4 development was apparently pure chaos and they spent under 2 years actually making the game. PoE 2 will undoubtedly be better in June 2024 than Diablo 4 is right now. |
