While i love playing Scion in its full complexity with different tree starts i think with all the new classes and ascendancies in PoE 2 it makes sense to axe Scion for now. There is still room to add it potentially later.

i think if we look at poe right now, its massively bloated. theres way too much stuff in there, total mess. poe was so bare bones in 2013 compared to what we have now.
a lot of what we have now will port over to poe2 and it will land so content heavy compared to poe1 in 2013 but i think it will be good for the game to give us a bit of room to learn the new stuff and have space to expand later.
theyve just added 6 new classes, like ppl are saying maybe they just dont have a good idea for her yet so shes been cut. i dont think its healthy to have scion at first, she breaks the character conventions. so many new people will come to poe with poe2 release, they should get used to the current characters and tree. theres a reason you have to unlock scion and cant start as her.
imo a big problem poe has is they dont know when to stop adding stuff. the demand for content, every new league needs new content, they just end up adding everything. why do golems exist? minios that give stat boosts so every melee ranger and marauder was running around with a golem minion? its a bad idea. an autobattler? really?... they just add everything. thats my main issue with poe content, good idea, bad idea, they all end up getting added because the company just hammers out content so frequently and people expect it now, they demand it.
the last thing im worried about is them not adding enough shit in the game. theyre gonna end up adding every good idea on the table and most of the bad ones too, to the point where its too much and the game is a complete mess. if the scion is a good idea it will get added eventually, until then we now have 12 classes which all look more interesting than the current scion.
yea dude, some of us long time players really liked the scion, some of the characters I was most fond of were scion and I had a great time playing it.
out of all the feature bloat in this game, a completely different class is the least offensive here.
if anything, Id say that having 2 of each character start in the exact same location is more of a bloat than a 7th starting location in the tree.

Let's be real, PoE started out as a single Act with three Difficulties, and eventually became a 10 Act, multi-instance extravaganza with an unlockable character.
PoE2 hasn't even entered the public space, and people are already asking about something that took YEARS before it happened in PoE. Give it some time to be BORN before you start asking why it won't be married and have children in the future.

It's not so much the fact that she's not there straight away. It's the reasoning given by GGG for why she's not there.
They say they couldn't find the identity, when it was they who said, when Ascendancy first released, that the Scion is all about tree mastery. Did they forget their own design direction, or what? o.O

of course I'm expecting them to carry over things that people love from PoE1.
Like uniques, or beloved league mechanics, and of course all the characters people played and loved.

Have you never said something and then later realised you didn't feel like it worked out that way?

With things like forbidden jewels, impossible escape and whatnot I don´t see sion to be necessary anymore. This ascendancy just outlived its gimmick.

The scion's position in the tree makes plenty of sense given the other characters unique attributes and i think where GGG fell short was the copy-pasta portion of her tree, Sure she's good at everything but great at nothing but that itself would have produced unique ability's.
If GGG wants the scion to live on or other classes in the tree they need to abandon this concept of the scion being a fraction of all the other classes and take her into more unique territory creating 2-3 stat hybrid skills.
Generally i only ever played the scion because i had no other alternative route (and the extra skill points)

Well, what changed then? Because being able to take nodes from opposite sides of the tree still works as an identity that the Scion does better than anyone else, and could work even better with some simple additions.
