With all the mixed skill possibilities now a character with can use all stats would have seemed to me in a much better spot.

Saaaame I also really like the scion as a character and how you unlock her having to progress to actually have access to her, and while I understand why they choosing to off her but I will miss her dearly.

The fantasy of that pinnacle person that could be what ever they wanted to be with out restrictions and with how the new skill tree and weapon swapping system works the build you could do with the scion could have been bonkers and I think that is also what they did not wanted to happen.

I actually think they didn't want to balance 36 Ascendancies into the Scion... like wtf :D

so just make her have her own thing as an Ascendancy, I never thought her current ascendancy was that appropriate or defining.

She should be the character which uses all three stats equally and who can get many far away keystones from the tree, not simply a mix of every other character.

it's a complete slap in the face to old player who loved that character to now have 2 characters of each stat, (like Ranger and Huntress lol big difference) and then claim she's redundant somehow - lol.

They'll probably add her later, maybe they didn't feel like creating all the mini-ascendancies for scion.

Isn't that the whole point? I thought the Scion/Ascendant's identity was that it's a wonderchild that could become like any of the other classes.

How you achieve that is another question, and arguably the current Ascendant may not be the best way to do it. But I really like the concept of mixing and matching characteristics of other classes, and I think the Scion could absolutely be saved if we just leaned into that aspect a little more.

A couple off-the-cuff ideas:

- Allow speccing into more than 2 classes' ascendancies

- More flexibility in picking features. E.g. instead of just taking a little bit of everything from an ascendancy, have a little mini-tree for each ascendancy and let players decide how much of each to take

- Allow reallocating ascendancies for free, like with Pantheon nodes

- Extra anointment slots

- A free cluster jewel node inside your ascendancy tree

Scion has a lot of potential for unique tree mastery shenanigans, idk why GGG don't see it.

Now imagine that, but with 36 specialized ascendancies. Dunno, maybe it got in the "cut now, content for later" bin

I'm aware of what she was, of course.
I'm just saying she doesn't have to be a combination of others.

Her trick is that she was STR+DEX+INT. Theres thousands of ways to implement that that's innovative.

i think if we look at poe right now, its massively bloated. theres way too much stuff in there, total mess. poe was so bare bones in 2013 compared to what we have now.

a lot of what we have now will port over to poe2 and it will land so content heavy compared to poe1 in 2013 but i think it will be good for the game to give us a bit of room to learn the new stuff and have space to expand later.

theyve just added 6 new classes, like ppl are saying maybe they just dont have a good idea for her yet so shes been cut. i dont think its healthy to have scion at first, she breaks the character conventions. so many new people will come to poe with poe2 release, they should get used to the current characters and tree. theres a reason you have to unlock scion and cant start as her.



imo a big problem poe has is they dont know when to stop adding stuff. the demand for content, every new league needs new content, they just end up adding everything. why do golems exist? minios that give stat boosts so every melee ranger and marauder was running around with a golem minion? its a bad idea. an autobattler? really?... they just add everything. thats my main issue with poe content, good idea, bad idea, they all end up getting added because the company just hammers out content so frequently and people expect it now, they demand it.

the last thing im worried about is them not adding enough shit in the game. theyre gonna end up adding every good idea on the table and most of the bad ones too, to the point where its too much and the game is a complete mess. if the scion is a good idea it will get added eventually, until then we now have 12 classes which all look more interesting than the current scion.
