Shroud of the lightless: where's the 5 link!? Not Cool GGG Many builds deleted (historic bow buff)

Let's be freaking honest, the old shroud of lightless was mostly exclusively used as a cheap early pseudo 6l before.
The item offered nothing other than a bit of life, so you could easily get a rare chest piece with whatever you need and call it a day without a lose at all. You lose 1 abyss socket, but that's something you could easily get back in different ways. At least they gave the older abyss armor a little bit of love and made them somewhat useful again cause the previous version was not up to date anymore since leagues. Some of the pieces find some actual use now in one or another way and even Lightpoacher is somewhat decent again and worth to mess around with Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. (these are not optional either unlike MOST support gems for other builds) This was a HUGE buff for builds that were already powerful with the item and far above and beyond a nerf well into again deleting entire builds from existence by removing the 5th socket possibility.. so please GGG, PLEASE for the love of all that is good and honest.. do something, say something.. Why would you do this GGG, Why would you delete so many builds from the game?
Whole archetypes that now there is no way to make them work. You even sold cosmetics to encourage the use of these items. It wasn't even a YEAR ago i payed 35$ for that belt skin and now i can't make use of it as intended with the original purchase, I got it because it matched the body armor and now the armor is unusable for my build.. This was such a massive buff for builds that already did well with this armor, 2 additional abyss sockets, builds that took heavy advantage of this item are light years stronger than the builds you took from a 5link down to a 4link.. and they were already heaps stronger... Which builds were those btw? bow builds of course the best item for all spells, minions and lastly ranged attacks. so why did you do this, how did your entire development team and whatever player oversight you have not maybe mention how harshly this would affect builds that didn't use it as a STAT-STICK. That was where my core skill went, if you use a 1handed weapon then what now GGG? Please acknowledge this mistake GGG, Pretty please at least say you're at least looking into un-deleting these builds from the game in a future league. GGG deletes builds all the time. Were you not there when 3.15 launched and rendered a lot of sub-par builds completely non-viable after the nerfs? Were you not there when GGG added archnemesis mobs to the core game, rendering more poor builds non-viable? You have any idea how many summoner builds I've lost over the years to GGG's flavor of the month development philosophy followed by buffing monsters? :P
This isn't new, and it likely won't be the last time they do it either. The only thing I can suggest is you find a new build that doesn't depend on Shroud, and then enjoy it while you can before it goes away too. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! " I would imagine you've lost more builds than me by a good bit especially on summoner, I'll avoid league-items up to 3 leagues or more until they've established themselves post-reworks and all that out of fear that a build will be rendered unusable in the near future otherwise. Super sadface, was doing crypt spiders from A2 with 3 cluster jewels and 2 scourge claws with the full compliment of abyssal gear, had been saving that build since before the abyss gear even existed.. which is kind of funny it took me this long to trust cluster jewels enough to use them in a build. Probably won't stop playing forever but this took all the wind out of my sails, I just can't believe it. I can't even bring myself to stay logged in for more than a few seconds before every last scrap of dopamine in my system is dumped into the void, heartbreak is the closest description i can come up with " What chest piece could possibly make up for the loss of all of that life scaling? You can't deal damage if you're dead. I have 18 jewels if you count only 1 in the body, 19-20 with the 4 and 3link variants. Would genuinely welcome any advice that isn't removing the following items: Seriously could someone who's responsible for this next level change clue me in on how I'm supposed to make due now? Please? Because you've killed my build and so many more until PoE2 comes around with its new gem system. ALL of my recent MTX purchase have been rendered useless by this change, ALL OF THEM. " if the only thing you were using previous versions for before was life scaling... you were getting 28% life with the old version of the chest(10%+1% per abyss jewel) with 18 jewels with the 1 in body armour. now... go swap to a rare body armour with incursion life and hunter %life... that is up to 25% life with a nice healthy chunk of flat life, 3 other suffix's modifiers... oh and a more useful base defense as armour helps mitigate phys and such. can also go veiled life+incursion life for up to 20%(18% crafted %life) with flat life, and have eldritch implicits(which are far stronger than some extra life... aura effect on its own goes a long way) and suffix's mods. Its only costing you 1 abyss socket this way. you can use an ele pen support gem to make up for losing the old version of the body armour. in alot of cases that large amount of flat life(110-157(depending on if you get hybrid life as well)) will almost always be worth more than a few % lost on that front... if you are using it just for life scaling... the new version is far far superior(with 18 abyss jewels this is 54% increased life%) |

" I need the links and i was using both the life and mana scaling, it added a heck of a lot more than is being perceived here, I also don't need the pen on the current build. The mods you listed just wont be enough to account for what was lost and even if it could the entire point of the build was using the lightless shroud in the first place. TY for the effort but GGG broke the camel here. (just not for bow builds lol historic mega-buff) _____________________ This is not like the rework of so many uniques who's modifiers were simply changed, this was ENTIRELY removed as an endgame option for anything OTHER than two handed weapons which were MASSIVELY BUFFED by this change. I can still use voltaxic rift, i can still use consuming dark.. not as easily but the entire intended kit is there.. I CAN NOT use the chestplate anymore unless im using a 2 handed weapon.. Am i supposed to farm white maps for the remaining months of the league?? And you still haven't corrected the patch notes so nobody else gets misled by them. This is really disappointing, I rely on my 5-linked Shroud to make my build work.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that the abyss sockets can be rocking powerful, but to make some builds work, my gems need to be AT LEAST 5 links, and this removes that chance. Suckssssss..... |

It would at least show that you're reading the forums and acknowledge the error on top of the fact there have been multiple actual bug reports posted the original content is not updated. At a loss here GGG, You sold cosmetics for a set of items that you then gutted for everyone who didn't already historically synergize with it, bow users are 60% stronger than they were before you changed this item and i don't see how you could not see that as a direct result while shutting everyone else out, we lost over 60% AND MORE from this change, the item is literally unusable in the late game with 1 handed weapons. " The loss of a modifier it previously didn't have? Yeah it doesn't function for 1h builds anymore which is a bit of a loss, but pretending that a 1 socket one would be better is idiotic once it lost supported by level 25 ele pen. You can usually get a 6l helmet or gloves going for a build with some investment too but its clearly been setup as an item for 2h users. Idea is 2 socket good, 3 socket better. Any build that used it previously can be made superior with the same item and some flexible thinking, its bonuses for stacking are vastly higher than previous afterall. You guys should be used to builds getting permanently trashed by now too they do it all the time -_- especially when they rework items. I think its pretty silly tbh I just think the scale of this response is overboard for how common this is and how much better shroud is post change for a majority of builds.
