GGG outsources more QoL and Tools than any similair game I can currently think of.

When CW was asked during the livestream about trade and identifying Crucible trees and responded that they only had one guy on trade, and someone else in community would just figure the API out, I could only laugh!

Are they paying people to make 3rd party tools?

You mean the guy that made a video explaining why he isn't paid by GGG or some other Neversink?

Not being employed, because you didn't wish to relocate halfway around the world, and not being compensated at all are very different things. Cmon dude.

And while I'm not privy to financial arrangements with PoB devs, I do believe there is some support and resources provided to them from GGG.

Tbh I'm not not sure where you are going with this. GGG is absolutely being cheap here and not wanting to expend their own time developing these things. Surely you can't be arguing against that in good-faith? It's blatantly obvious.

I like(d) several things in Diablo 4. And while I always feared that the Paragon Boards would only be boring stats, I had a tiny bit of hope that they would be a little bit more than that. Sadly, we're left with almost no customization beyond a set of legendary aspects crafted onto boring weapons, where 90% of the affixes seem more or less irrelevant, while I really EXPECT them to be more relevant come endgame.

There was never a chance that the end game would have any meaningful depth to someone who enjoys the depth of POE. That's the conundrum of making a game that is intended to appeal to the broadest set of players possible. Anything that requires any real depth will be considered too deep by someone who just wants to click stuff and go with little thought while making meaningful progress.

Diablo 3 did a good job of appealing to their target audience. Diablo 4 will do the same thing.

LMAO I have been here a long time... What is this dept... I do the same thing every season lol... POE also has had many years of greats and failures. More on the failure side these days
You do play POE and the skill Tree? cause Im looking now and its no different... I get more spell power/other stat 5 times then a Keystone ... Diablo 4 I get more Spell power/other stat 5 times then a Keystone... Im not seeing a dif lol?

He directly said he wasn't paid by them for using his filters, you should probably look up what outsourcing means.

There was definitely a case for making an official version of poe.trade, not so much for anything else. Could they provide better default loot filters than there already are or make a better loot filter building tool than Filterblade? Could they make a better version of POB in game? If the answer is no then they would hardly be used and it would be a complete waste of time & effort.

You're only making a point out of it as it's another thing to shit on them for even though there aren't any other relevant ARPGs that provide things like a comprehensive build & gear planning tool. There's only one other ARPG that even has a less than basic loot filter and that doesn't provide any default filters and so on. It's getting old.

If that's true, which I don't know that it is at all, and fuck no I'm not spending time looking up what he said (feel free to sauce me), then it's a labor violation. In most 1st world countries that recognize FSLA, at least. Even if Neversink never wanted compensation willfully, his work, which is directly credited work in-game, has made it into the product, which then generated profits. GGG has to pay the man...something. Even it's a token amount, or consulting / contracting fee, or anything. Which really, give the man $20k dollars or whatever, buy the IP for his filter/concepts, and move the fuck on. And who says they didn't. I'm not taking "trust me bro" on this one.

An internationally traded, for-profit Corporation, cannot have an army of unpaid volunteers or unpaid remote international interns submitting programming work (or any labor for that matter) for free, that you then subsequently profit off of. The potential for abuse and leveraging there is astounding. I'm absolutely sure NZ has labor laws governing this, but I don't have the time right now to check that. (I may update later if I give any fucks)

Still tho, what the hell? I hope they are not as dumb as this post seems to insinuate lol. I mean they have Lawyers and Human Resources, so I cannot fathom this was the case, that they simply took all Neversinks work (his permission, or off the books arrangements, would be irrelevant), never officially compensated him, put it in their game with his name on it, and have it part of an IP that makes Millions of dollars.
