Part of this is from people being reminded of the Scourge mechanic. While it's different and feels like improvements have been made, there are still some glaring problems.
Being able to use the Crucible on equipped and weapon swapped weapons is a step up from Scourge's method, because you couldn't use the item while you were scourging it.
On the other hand, you HAVE to equip the weapon in order to use it with the Crucible. This is fine for grinding weapons you're going to use, but it interferes with players in a different way than how Scourge did it. It messes slightly with leveling gems on the weapon swap, and messes heavily with people/builds that make regular use of the swapped weapons.
Yes, we haven't seen Crucible actually play out yet, but people do still have concerns from how Scourge played out.
A crucible slot for another weapon would be nice, so we don't have to keep it offhand. The mechanics demand for us to level two weapons at least.

Most negative community I've ever witnessed - why?
Easy, GGG listened to feedback and bent over bakwards for players for far too long, so every little nerf and even some buffs are seen by a bunch of petulant children that over react to everything.

Well...
The easy answer is "the internet".
But if we go a little bit deeper, I think we can blame a lot of this on Chris' clumsy footsteps over the years, or rather his choice of words. Sometime, he's just uttering sentences that are very hard to understand. We have two examples just in the latest livestream. Sometimes, it's the smallest things that can be infuriating.
1) "...And we picked the 6 best masteries."
No, you didn't. I'm TOTALLY ok with the changes, both the buffs and the nerfs, but you clearly didn't pick the six best ones for every mastery. Why word it like that? I think those changes would be MUCH easier to swallow for a lot of people if he'd worded it in a different way.
2) Ruthless. Side project. Made by a handful of OG's on their spare time. What happened to that? A SOLID percentage of the livestream dedicated to talking about it - and the main race happening there. I think this sudden change in focus is a VERY sudden and strange. I seriously do not really care about Ruthless; it's not my jam. But again; their marketing and explanations don't really fit the end result.
Personally? I've accepted a long time a go that this is a progressive live-service game, that will have a lot of nerfs, buffs and changes. I like changes. I like shakeups. I like new problems to solve. I have no build, so I have no "RF glasses" on (example) when I read the patch notes. I don't think "Oh no, my X build loses that". I see the alternatives and think "how can I utilize that?".
I understand their change in communication. I can even back them on it, when we see how destructive and hostile things can get. But when they choose to go with the one-sided approach, the one-sided communication needs to be good and easy understandable/relatable. And I don't really feel it has been that lately.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Let me start by saying this: I am fully aware of the Online disinhibition effect and other online-related theorems that basically try to explain why people act online differently as they would face to face.
That being said, I was really surprised about those last few days after the crucible reveal and the patch notes, how negative it was perceived in this forum as well as on reddit. Here are the points I don't understand:
1. "nerf fest" - I really don't know if many people remember the old days, when whole archetypes were ripped to shreds within one patch but nerf fest? There were certain things that were nerfed, but I wouldn't call that a ner fest, lets adress a few:
- removal of powerful masteries
While that hurt here and there, I get why some of the masteries were considered too powerful, for example crit based on Spell Surpress. That's double dipping into the probably strongest defensive layer for 1 additional point. Those MRE-Masteries aren't even a real nerf, unless you took multiple - once you run a few auras the new mana note with 12% global ends up with a bit more effectiveness and even if not... Small cluster jewels and you have an easy workaround, it's not that big of a deal. Fire dot multi and poison was fine, both archetypes are VERY powerful and u gotta make room for new powercreep.
- Seismic dead. Okay, where is the problem, u asked for a meta change?!
- endless heist dead: well, good! Sorry to say but intentionally staying in a certain level range might work economically, but progressionwise this feels just wrong. I fully agree with that change, and I would have gone endless heisting myself!
- leveling nerfs: typical, people cry rivers about slower leveling when in reality 99.8% of those that cry about that change weren't even able to use the tools we had to speedrun in the first place. I can do a 3.75h Kitava A10, and with the changes I might be more like 4h or 4.15. As long as you need an hour oer act anyway there is SO MUCH more improvement that u can make that far outweigh those changes. In fact, I would even argue that those changes bring the absolute top end racers and the solid speedys closer together, as now those inhuman crazy dudes that utilized Onslaught absolutely perfect can't "outplay" me with it and I don't feel forced to play a gem witj very little combat effectiveness.
So... Where are, compared to leagues like 3.15, those big nerfs u are talking about?
2. Boring league mechanic
While it is perfectly reasonable that some people like other things than others, the immense outrage towards this league leaves me questioning.
First of all, GGG had to design a metric ton of possible notables for different weapon types and shields within 3 months, while also looking for a way to upgrade those trees. This league gives choices, powercreep, something to strive for as well as again a whole new mechanic to improve items. I honestly can't fathom how in every 3-4 months they come up with new ideas like that. When you compare it to other games, the amount of updated content is just insane. Also, judging a book by its cover like that is also pretty trashy. Can't u just at least play it before tearing it to shreds?
Honestly this is the very first time that going into forums and on reddit left me actually feeling more negative towards the game and actually dampening my hype after the reveal. So I would love to have your opinion on this and maybe give me a few pointers what people actually want from GGG to finally be happy for once? Cause I don't really see what they could do anymore.
1. Different strokes for different folks. What you might see as a good decision or find acceptable others might not. Which is the case more often than not.
2.Most players don't optimize the shit out of the game like you do. They just want more accessible late game and more linear gear/build progression. And they certainly don't want even more power to shifted to gears instead of gems/passive tree. So yep, people get saltier by each league as power gets shifted more easily accessible source to gear.
3.League. Again, Anyone who has been playing for a few years can notice in a heartbeat that this league is riddle with tedium. Channeling the forge instead of just setting a difficulty meter or smth, weapon forging locked to weapons in hand and weapon swap, so it can interrupt your game play every map switching weapons means you have to restart you auras, might fuck up your wardloop, can level less gems and so on. And I'm pretty sure most people have a very valid concern that good trees might be just as nonexistent as good krangle outcomes in scourge.
4. Yes, game is still good, but GGG has been actively alienating a big portion of the player base ever since 3.15 and like it or not a lot of players want the game to go the opposite direction (easier/faster you name it) and GGG doesn't. So yep salty and negative posts will keep coming and coming until the unsatisfied portion of the player base stops playing or GGG changes directions. Simple as that.
So, if other people's personal opinion bothers you so much, and it seems it does, just stop reading forums and commenting every second "negative" topic and you'll probably feel fine. Making these "drama posts" solves nothing and changes nothing. No offense.
Could not have put it better than that.

Might as well not be on any online community if any opinion is labeled as "negative"
Society nowdays.. everything is "negative" while they gaslight the shit out of others without mercy.

People always complain before league start, nothing new here.
However, this time we also see people who are actually excited about some of the changes, that's pretty cool.
