Most negative community I've ever witnessed - why?
Some key points to keep in mind when reading poe forums.
1. Different implies worse. 2. The previous leagues were better. 3. Ignore improvements, focus on the negatives or what you think is negative. If you can follow these three simple principles, then you will make for an excellent cherry picker :) Last edited by AlvinL_#4492 on Apr 2, 2023, 3:04:32 AM

" Very few people are playing the game right now. People are here instead of playing because they are waiting for the league to start. People also only tend to be vocal about things they dislike and want to change, that is just human nature, good things tend to be accepted with a smile and a nod. If a developer releases an update with many good changes and a few bad ones, people are always going to latch onto and point out the bad ones. I don't mean to devalue their criticisms, many of them are valid. This community seems negative because GGG keeps making bad decisions and fighting against what the game has become. Are these their decisions to make? Sure. Is it ever going to go down quietly? Not a chance. People just want a better game for themselves, and the only way to enact change or be noticed in a situation like this is to make enough noise about it. That doesn't work here though, GGG ignores these forums, so the reality is you need to go to reddit and get a few thousand upvotes, or blow up their twitter feed somehow (I don't know/care how twitter works). |

Very few people post on these forums, how many actually post on these forums 100? Less?

" And everyone loved that, because it came with buffs to other archetypes/new skills, and thus gave people a reason to make new builds, to invent new stuff. Now, some stuff gets nerfed, but nothing gets buffed (that's why everyone hates nerf-fests), and archetypes almost never get touched in a positive way. What that results in is the best builds being old builds that didn't get nerfed. For example, RF/fire trap has been one of the absolutely strongest builds in the game since Scourge, so since October 2021. Ever since AN league, so Feb 2022, another of the strongest archetypes has been Omniscience bow/projectile skill (there's a lot of skills that fall into this, but they really play the same). And that's just boring - if there're almost no buffs, then there are no new builds that will be better than the old ones, so one just plays the old stuff. Yes, you can try to make something new, but you know, everyone knows, that you're just making a weaker version of a well-established archetype. Old patch notes were like a beautiful puzzle to which everyone was trying to find a solution. The solutions to current patch notes are the same solutions from over a year ago, just weaker. " The league is focused on crafting, adding an extra layer to it. Only a tiny portion of the playerbase likes crafting, some people do it when they must, and a lot of people downright hate it (as, for the most part, it's a no-pity-system high-buy-in lottery). So a league focused on crafting leaves a lot of people disappointed. Also, the league mechanic looks clunky and annoying as hell, because the way it looks like, you need to pick up ideally all weapons, identify their trees, and read them all to see if something isn't the mod you want or a divine. | |
" There are so many buffs this season though? |

" Like which ones? Especially the meaningful/build defining ones I'm interested in - it's cute that Tulborn/Tulfall got buffed, but they're still worse than a +2 wand/Voidbattery, so it makes no difference to anything. The only meaningful buff I can think about is Saboteur coc-friendly ascendancy points. Last edited by Xyel#0284 on Apr 2, 2023, 3:34:08 AM

" I am not sure about that. Double Tulborn/Tulfall is 1400 bonus damage with 10 power charges and 2 of them. That is a lot. As for meaningful buffs for my build: levelling: intimidate nearby enemies when you have rage 10% more attack damage 40% physical pen onslaught and adrenaline on stance change(for bosses) End game: 10% of leech instant 50% increased accuracy rating for nearby enemies 25% chance to get flask charge on critical strike Hand of Thought and Motion now scales off dexterity. " And like that unique has been buffed many uniques have been buffed. |

" So you think less than 100 people created the like 600k+ threads and millions of posts on these forums? That would certainly be a trick wouldn't it. |

It's mostly burn out and overinvestment.
Most negative comments are made by long-time fans, who invested a lot of themselves (and usually money) into the game, yet simply got bored with it. Let's be honest, how much you can play single game. yet, they cannot let it go and move on to something else. Instead of accepting natural course of events, they try to put the blame on game and devs who have "broken their belowed game". |
