His reaction to POE on stream made millions of people aware of this game's existence people who never would have even known or touched this game.

The impact he has on 1 video for POE is more than every POE streamer video upload combined over the last 10 years.

Cause who is this guy even? Pretty much a nobody within the PoE scene.

The small PoE streamer actually play PoE and contribute useful content for the community. Mr greasy hair is barely able to successfully play most of his games without the help of his community and only acts up like the big good gamer in every game.
I bet he never even achieved much in PoE but tries to react to something out of his knowledge area. So what's so special about it now?

People currently playing POE isn't providing anything useful to GGG

Asmongold is providing millions of new players with just 1 video.

This is the point of reaction streamers. He earned GGG millions of dollars in free advertisement with just 1 video which was the point.

too bad that the game even had a higher amount of average players before the video existed in 2021. So your statement about "millions of new players" is quite inaccurate.
Betrayal winter 2018 had more players even without the video, and even Ritual Jan 2021 peaked with a higher amount of average players compared to Ultimatum league, supposedly the league with the so good "greasy hairs guy millions of player push".
Every other league beyond that was pretty much stable on about the same amount as players as before. Only Archnemesis had a larger amount of players, but simply because it was just larger content expansion.

The amount of PoE players always depended on what kind of league they launch, but they didn't won a big amount of people because of one reaction video of someone acting all "knowledged and hyped" about a game they barely or don't even play at all. But hey reaction videos are just free and easy content. Just take whatever randomly talk stuff about it and let your fanbase consume it. Easy money and youtube pretty much proved that by the ever so growing amounts of reaction videos across multiple channels and content genres.
The only time were he managed to move some players into a different game was during FFXIV SB. Mostly because it's just another big mmorpg like wow and it's for sure easier to pull his more wow focused fan base into another mmorpg rather than a different genre.

I think you are missing the point. You said you will never touch PoE 1 again when 2 comes out but you dont realize that its all still one game. Its not like it has a different desktop icon to load up diablo 1 vs diablo 2 or whatever.

Thats what is slightly amusing about the comment.

That's pretty much just what happens when someone makes a video about a simple trailer and lacks the knowledge about the game in general. People start to believe what the "big" streamer says and complete miss out the point of reality that PoE2 is just a big expansion.

i like asmon, he's not a POE streamer but anyone who downplays him are kinda doing him a disservice.

he may not have indepth vids on POE but i can tell you this. when a streamer plays to enjoy the game they do not stream it. he enjoys POE and pretty much has a good understanding of it.

he is not a complete idiot when it comes to poe and casually brings poe up as a comparison now and then.

he sometimes is a bit crude but his words usually has some truth in it.

The only problem here, is that he has streamed PoE several times, but usually play it off stream. Asmongold is probably "too big" and too aware of views, clicks and revenue to play a niche ARPG, knowing that a huge MMO generates a lot more.

I don't watch much of his content, but did tune in to watch some D4 content he commented on, and his knowledge about PoE seems pretty deep.

On topic: While PoE and PoE 2 are more or less the same game when it comes to gameplay (with A LOT of new stuff), I think people are underestimating what improved graphics, new animations, new character templates and new physics can do to a game. I don't really know what's more cringe here, people calling it a completely new game, or people claiming it's only "a new story mode".

To me, PoE will always be about planning - and executing those plans. With several completely new base weapon types, double the amount of ascendancy classes, tons of new skills as well as all the graphical modernization, I'm pretty sure PoE 2 will give me just as many hours of joy as a completely new game would give me - and to me, that is all that matters.

No it's not the same game.

POE 2 has a new campaign, new environment and most importantly the one thing I truly care about "New character animations" which makes it look like a multi billion dollar AAA title.

OOh and we can play Amazon Electric Javelin Build in POE 2 just like the good old D2 days.

Character animations is the one thing that truly sets POE 1 and 2 apart as GGG pointed out it's the most expensive and time consuming part of POE 2 which is why we have yet to receive said update.

Until POE 1 gets rid of the "vomit inducing character animations" As the title says and give us what is being showcased in POE 2 I will be waiting patiently.
