The saddest of misguided/missed goals of PoE
"We want ppl to have a community in trading."
/goes on to create a game where... ...ppl can't even express common decency by saying "ty" after u buy a 50c item from them. at least a few years ago it was "ty gl" "u 2" (as u got insta-kicked from party). skipped a few leagues, now it seems ~1 out of 10 trades even has any chat post-trade. (and you'd think w/ all the alleged botting, ppl could train their bots to do it. but no, that's extra cpu cycles, man!) ...ppl can't even wait 5 seconds for you to finish un-exitable content, to do a trade. even if you ask them nicely. (especially if you ask them nicely?) and probably half of these interaction end with at least one /ignore, if not 2. really, rudeness *is* the language. it's a badge of honor, so to speak, how "elite" you are that you can't pause 1 second to chat, because you're so doing "content" so intensely. this is what you created, GGG; good job! ...meanwhile "partying" is either about "run ahead and do all the content fastest", or, "no attack, no loot, stay behind, don't click anything, but btw make sure u have the stats to be able to stay alive." fixing this all in poe2, right? Haven't really noticed, people tend to be polite when there's a meaningful interaction. When I try to haggle or ask them to wait a few minutes it's either 'Sure, no problem' or 'Nah, I'm fine', if they're busy with something and the trade is more than a few chaos they'd politely ask me to wait, if I'm buying a lot of fuses it's often "Good luck". Haven't really had much to complain about in past few years.
At worst there's no 'ty' back, but that's most often the case when buying bulk currency and there's a lot of traffic in the hideout, so it's kinda understandable and getting no 'ty gl hf' isn't something that will ruin even my next two minutes, let alone the whole day. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

are you asking mark and rory to make major adjustments to the culture of human society on a global scale?
i think that might be a little beyond their budget and skill set. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

i would often leave a "finds knorke von dir kollege, mir das so billig zu vereumeln, grüß deine frau und meine kinder" but i don't know how to say it in english :-S

I think I'm just rambling here, but oh well.
I would wager I have to do a few thousand trades a league since I've got so many dump tabs. My first few leagues I would get bent out of shape when someone would not finish a trade with a "ty" equivalent. I think I still have a tab named "only rude people don't say TY" in standard from maybe Legacy league. You start to not think about it after so many trades though. I just have a copy paste message I sent to people now instead of hand typing it out "Thank you, I hope you have a good rest of your day. Stay safe. (^._.^)ノ". When I get a hand typed out message telling me they hope I have a good rest of my day too, it does feel really nice though. Normally the big ice breaker I get a few times a week when playing is commenting on my hideout. I've put a lot of hours into it, so most of my friends I make in the game now come from casually talking about my HO after a trade, into random BS as time progresses. Some of it could be because the trade process is so automated now(think stuff like POE lurker helping you find items really fast in your tabs) they might not even think you are human, I've had multiple people say stuff about "good bot" to me after super fast trade. Now this is few and far between. Anywho, yeah, I wish more people interacted with some type of pleasantry after a trade, but I've gotten to the point where I'm fine if they do not as well. |

Yes there's rudeness. But in the case of trade, how many trades has that guy been dealing with. How many messages did the buyer have to send before FINALLY getting a connection?
There is so much frustration and time on both ends of every trade that 99% of the time both players just want it done as fast as possible. It may not seem like a lot but even a single button press to send an automatic TY can be a TON of time when you do 10000 trades. It can also mess you up by messaging the wrong person, getting conversations that interrupt your flow of trade messages, etc. In fact, its sometimes MORE polite to NOT say TY because thats just an extra whisper that the seller sees, along with the 5000 trade requests. Players on both ends get a lot more vocal, polite, and thankful when you deal with big ticket trades. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Feb 7, 2023, 5:37:20 PM

i dont even think about it. i type 'tyty' in local chat after a trade most of the time, but theres times im stood in my hideout while im on the sofa halfway across the room and i can barely even read the screen, i dont have a keyboard in front of me i just got a wireless mouse and if i get a trade ping ill invite them, put the item in, completely the trade and thats that, i cant type anything, im not gonna get up and walk over to my pc.
i dont even think about what the other person is doing, if they say ty or have some automated thank you spam or whatever... i just zone it out. i probably make about 40 divines and 400 chaos every day from sales, sometimes half that, sometimes double it. only times i ever get annoyed is when someone keeps talking to me after trade and theyre not a cool person i wanna talk to, theyre some really annoying person whos waffling a load of cool story bro nonsense to me and trying to show me their build or some shit... its 3am and im trying to watch happy valley, just take your shit and go m8 im not running a dating service. this whole thing with social interaction in trade etc... i feel like the devs have a romantic take on it that, like many of their takes regarding how the games item handling systems are handled, falls apart under the quantity of these activates we go through day by day. im thankful for any trade that = a whisper happens, a party invite is almost instant, the buyer is right into the sellers hideout, trade, done and youre onto the next thing. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" You can thank streamers for that. They are the ones that promote that kind of etiquette. Too important for ty. ps I say ty even for 1c trades. Last edited by TorsteinTheFallen#1295 on Feb 7, 2023, 7:41:22 PM

" He has a point, as GGG puts down every discussion about trade in a "we want trade to be a social thing" Trade is invested with bots or people who cant bother to say thank you or do whatever other communication. Trade in this game is the worst i ever encountered in any game, there is no interaction, it's sluggish as hell by going to a fkn 3rd party website, then you need to whisper dozens of people, and all that without a fkn word said. And GGG keeps sticking to there fucking we want it to be a social interaction thing. |

" no one has to go to any 3rd party site to trade, and i dont see what people saying thank you after a trade or not has to do with ggg. are they the parents who raised the 2 or 3 million individuals who log in an play every league? what point is there? how are ggg going to fix the fact someone didnt saying thank you after a trade you make in poe2? its comical you are taking a ridiculous thread about someoe not saying thanks for a trade and trying to reimagine it as a thread about the mechanics of the trade system which you obviously dont like. thats not the point the guy is making, thats not what this thread is. ITT we are getting upset because someone didnt say ty after a trade and then we are trying to make out thats somehow the fault of ggg and we are expecting them to 'fix' a few million players desire to say ty after trades in poe2. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
