For the love of god can we have a in game auction system?
I agree. I was siding with GGG for a while in leaving out trade the way it is, but realistically, at this point, after several years, I'm starting to feel like trading is the worst aspect of the game, and is just not fun, depending on what you're needing to trade.
Pretty sure I would play a lot more if trading was less tedious. In fact, if I recall correctly, there's been plenty of times where I've quit the league, because I just wanted to get going, and instead of being able to play, in order to progress, I had to spend hours liquidating many stash tabs. And sometimes had to spend a bunch of time, having to trade, jut to get mapping again. I'm sorry but artificially limiting player power by making trading sucks and be tedious really doesn't seem like good game design at all. |

There are a lot of different systems that people generally group under AH. I think the main two are:
1 - Allow trading of items listed at a price set by seller without messages/meeting, etc. Could be done direct or you just go see a vendor in their hideout without them being there or possibly even them being online. (I think this is what most people actually mean) (most MMORPGs) 1a. You could have to be online but could be AFK (everquest) 2 - Items actually auctioned off, with a starting bid price, with or without buyout, with limited time posting. (most MMORPGs do this, with buyouts being normal) The first is really just fixing trade so that its not using player annoyance and frustration as a game mechanic. The second is changing the format a bit to allow bid ups. I dont care either way about the second, I think anyone against the first one has a game philosophy I don't agree with at all. Players are limited in a lot of ways, many of which make sense (only so many talent points, etc.). Intentionally making your game annoying because you can't figure out a coherent philosophy (should trade be the best and fastest way to acquire gear or not? There are tons of alternatives like account bound gear, in much larger and more successful games than PoE that have worked great) is one of the worst solutions Ive ever seen. |

As always GGG doesn't care about anyones opinions but their own. All they care about is taking your money and for the players to shut up while they do what they want with it and tell you why they are always correct.
Nothing to discuss or argue over as usual, waste of time. Start using your wallets as a means to make a change. Last edited by dupie#7991 on Feb 5, 2023, 7:52:58 PM

" I can't imagine too many people continue paying into a game they don't like. This feels like a given. I like the game and continue to support, but if that shifted, I would of course stop. Who pays for a game they don't want/like? Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Feb 6, 2023, 9:53:51 AM

" I think, because I feel this often as well, is that he was saying that he likes the game, or wants to like the game, and the Devs continually make it more difficult. That said its impossible to make something that everyone will be satisfied with. I happen to think this is where GGG makes the biggest errors. They want to develop for a more niche audience, but they also want money and metrics representative of a large swath ofplayers. You cant do both, well at least not smoothly or without confusing / upsetting people. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

" Okay, but I can't tell the difference between someone who doesn't like the game, and someone who doesn't like the game but wants to in this context. In terms of paying, it feels like a distinction without a difference. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Feb 6, 2023, 11:31:11 AM

I am not a power player by any means and I have never reached more than 30 challenges in a league, yet I still love this game and played nearly 2000 hours at this point, I am also thoroughly enjoying the Sanctum league at my own slow leisure pace !
However, while trading for rares is fine -most- of the time, trading currencies is from my point of view as someone who enjoys crafting one of the WORST experiences I've had in any online game. Having to whisper at the very least 10 people for most most kind of currency trades is very very painful. (note: I kind of feel like its been getting worse with direct whispers, but maybe that's just time and the community evolving towards this "can't bother for 50c" state of mind) Converting things like 5 divines into chaos in the current economy in order to have smaller change is plainly horrible. Buying, even in (moderate) bulk, resonators and fossils is a flipping trek ! I have more than once wanted to stop a craft because i ran out of 4 socket footballs or of a rarer fossil and just was depressed at the idea of spending 20 minutes refueling on the trade instead of playing the damn game. Ghosting from other players aside, from how I see ggg's idea of trading with other human beings, it seems that this system should be the cradle of "meaningful" exchanges with two happy dudes exchanging 3 wood scraps for a bottle cap in a cheerful way, but in a game where efficiency is key that's not going to happen. When etiquette disappears completely and people only have to clic the "purchase" button to contact you, why do we stay on such an archaic system where you still have to stop your activity, even MORESO sanctums where you have to pause your run an open a new back to come back to it ? 99% of the trades I do nowadays, people don't even bother with a single "ty" or "t4t", they don't even utter a single word ! I am all for interactions with people in games, I've met most of my friends online too, but most of the people I have introduced POE to just quit by the time they reach yellow maps because gearing up by trying to contact people that will never bother for a 1c trade is just too big of a turn-off for every single one of them :( I read (sifted through) the whole thread and the old manifesto but still: A "public booth" in your hideout visible in the same manner as "public stashes" that people can come and interact with would be such an upgrade imo, yes automation, snipers and bots is a huge issue, but they're already here ! I remember the addition of live search on the public trade sites to counter-balance the fact people used private live-searches to sniper items of off the market a few years back, why not do the same here ? I will keep playing this game for years to come, but man just let me take that dude's 5c abyss jewel off his stash while he stays in his omegalul juiced map guys... /rant |

" This! Just implement goddamn stash or NPC or whatever and let it be a seller for you. That would bring a tremendous relief. Curiosity is followed by ambition. Ambition is followed by madness.

i dont understand @GGG decision on not adding a more convenient way of trading the current system is so outdated and so frustrating that i try to avoid trade as much as possible there are much better systems out there IN GAME the fact that they want to remove the console system just shows how out of touch they are about this
the trading is atm the only bad thing that i have with this game it is just plain and simple BAD and should be reworked as fast as possible |

" I love ARGPs. I love the idea of POE. I love the skill tree, the uniques, builds, currency, etc. I just hate how all of it comes together to become a massive grindfest where you pray to RNGesus for something to drop or for a craft not to completely mess up. I try hard every league to enjoy it, but in the end, GGGs vision exhausts me and I give up. |
