So, Sanctum staying after the league is over - yay or nay?
"These relics exist for the league only"
The answer to the question is quite obvious with this statement of the content reveal. So no, Sanctum won't find it's way into the core game. Hopefully the useful unique items end up somewhere in the loot pool tho. I still don't understand the hate towards the league mechanic. It's something different and also rewarding at the same time. A free additional gear item along with a free keystone adds a lot of possibility to every build. But I guess most people struggle with it, which is clearly just a skill issue tbh. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on Jan 15, 2023, 12:12:00 PM

The base concept sounds nice but implementation could be better.
With that i mean for example most boons are boring and bland increases to HP (resolve + inspiration), coin gain and slight player/monster HP+ MS debuffs. Thats basically it. Would be more interesting if it had more interesting boons that change your character abilities in a new way. Also the monster and tile set assets are very similar and could benefit from more variance. Rewards on the other hand are good if you have a build that consistently reaches floor 4. I have not tried it hard but i once got 2 divines from a lvl 73 Sanctum. I suppose if you try harder you can get double digit divines if you're lucky with the duplicate boon and block other less valuable currencies. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore "A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks Last edited by gandhar0#5532 on Jan 15, 2023, 2:58:50 PM

" I like how you threw in a hint of suppression technique at the end there, after mentioning only the rewards as some kind of 'reason' that the mechanic itself is good. Anyhow, they could introduce a league mechanic where you turned into a frog and had to climb trees - with several mirrors at the top. It would also be different and rewarding - but would it be 'good' or 'fun'? My Lightning Arrow/Tornado Shot Deadeye has no real problems running the Sanctums, but I can't motivate myself to do them, because they are boring as fuck. And I play games to have fun. Hardly any monsters to kill, lots of pauses and lots of running. It's like running lab or early beta maps. On top of that, it clearly favors certain archetypes over others, even though it's doable on most. All of that does not scream "good mechanic" in my ears. I have no problem disliking league mechanics - leagues come, and leagues go. I've been there before, and so have probably you too. But when you disliked the league mechanic, it wasn't a 'skill issue', right? My problem, is when "different mechanics", like Heist, gets thrown into the core game - and turn out to be so rewarding to compensate for the tremendously boring mechanic, that you feel close to forced to play it. Luckily, Heist rewards can be bypassed through the economy; Sanctum can't. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Please god no.. Even if u fix the weirdest thing ever that sucks u without ur consent (*wink*) it still boring as f*.
I mean... I really think that my aversion is it not being tradable. That account-bound status is a boomer, this game is not balanced around self-found gameplay and including it out of nowhere seems really out of place. I have no desire in building around a relic I found. |

I have zero interest in Sanctum, but I always believe that more content is better for the game because other people might like content that I dislike and vice versa, so why would I oppose it going core even if I don't personally enjoy it?
I also think that Sanctum is pretty big - by big I mean Heist/Delve/Alva's Temple/Blight/Expedition big, and not just some quick filler encounter that you do quickly while mapping, so to me it's a worthy contender for going core. But of course the final word belongs to GGG. If it goes core, it will need pretty serious re-design I think. Even now, when you encounter Sanctum every map, people are complaining that it takes too long to do a full Sanctum. Now imagine that it's not on every map. |

I havent met anyone who finds it hard. The RNG downsides can be overdone but you dont have to deal with them every time.
Its just boring. Apply dps. Run in circle around stuff till it is dead. Or just ignore it and run past it. |

Once you have enough damage to kill the final boss in less than a second the Sanctum becomes trivial indeed. Although I am gonna miss relics like this one
Unavailable sooo good for certain builds, holy crap Some items in this post are currently unavailable.

You will find most people that enjoy sanctum are playing builds where they can move and do damage easily. My issue is that it is just too long and you are limited in how many rooms you can hold off until you are required to run it.
Meta slaves rolling easymode builds/ascendencies for sanctum will be loving how trivial the content is right now and the profit. If it does go core I would like to see a reduction of rooms and actually balance the rooms so that it doesn't favour heavy movement/range too much. The relics are incredibly powerful so going core would add more powercreep. Last edited by dupie#7991 on Jan 16, 2023, 5:31:37 PM
