Why is P.O.E and its community afraid of pick-up pets?

I'd rather just have a radius vacuum pick up of basic currency over a pet.

i wish they would just add the pet and the rest of the chinese p2w shit. for something like the past 5 leagues i've been excited at league start, and every league ends up being shit. if they did this i could just walk away and never look back. as is, i keep coming back for more disappointment. and considering i have like 50 games on my backlog, im sure i could find better uses for my time

There is nothing wrong with them -- and here I am assuming you're not being sarcastic. I play plenty of games with QoL like auto-pickup (I'm almost 45, chronically unwell and have the reflexes of a brick), and I do believe POE is stuck in the past in a lot of ways due to its adherence to Diablo 2's standards, standards the industry left behind long ago. Sure, we have D2R recapturing all of it but even IT got some QoL like automatic gold pickup (because omg fuck manual gold pickup on a controller) but for the most part, even ARPGs have left the fiddliness enabled by M+K design behind.

What I am pointing out not that these wanting QoL like auto pickup are wrong, but that this community is far more divided over the topic than some locals and perhaps even GGG want to admit. And that some of those who do want the QoL like pick-up pets *are willing to pay for it*. This is the crazy part. It should be fucking free.

Pickup pets are almost exclusively used in games where they designed the problem then sell the solution is the problem, yes a pickup pet would be great for PoE we have to pick up so much garbage (and for whatever reason many players won't just leave shit on the floor) but they can fix the problem by consolidating drops and removing outdated materials.

Its another case of nothing changes if you support them aside from we all have to play more as players. Fix it properly or don't fix it at all still better solutions.

Define outdated material, cause not a single material comes without a use.
There are loot filter to get rid of low tier crafting currency and other stuff for less items on the ground.

Besides that loot pets are bad for some types of games cause your laziness only benefits bots the most. It works well in trade restricted games but not in a game that is balanced and reliant on trading. The game is already filled and ruined with enough bots.

Not sure why most player especially the z-generation ones are lazy and cheap with games these days. Already simple games ain't simple enough I guess.

I see. I was trolling cuz the comment u were refering to was also mine (wich I was also kinda trolling).

But since you are talking seriously I will also give my 2 cents. I don't really mind pick up pets (and also don't care too much if they don't exist) as long as there is at least one free or obtainable in game through content. They can sell skins and pick up effects for that... But tbh I think the loot filter does such a good jog that the game is currently (at least for now) kinda fine.

most types of splinters, essences, crafting materials could be consolidated quite easily, scrolls, blacksmiths/armourers could just give far more % and be less common, rares obviously need reducing massively as does general loot.

Honestly if they wanted to they could streamline the stuff we pickup down 90% and we already do 90% with filters.

Its like this, LA has loot pets and they simulate it immediately in the game by making you pickup 77 carrots separately then have a pet pick them up for you on a repeat.

However an overwhelming majority of those drops are totally worthless so you could achieve the same thing by just not dropping them at all (or in our case filtering them out). Point is yet again that loot pets are a solution to a created problem, that problem didn't need to be designed like that it was done to specifically to allow the selling of pets.

That isn't universal obviously there are some arpgs with loot pets that go to town and sell for you that are single player and its clearly just a mechanic to handle loot with but primarily they are an alternative revenue driver.
