Why is P.O.E and its community afraid of pick-up pets?

I would be happy if league materials get picked just walking trought it. Not all the currency, just league stuff. It's a little bit tedious picking these splinters, coins....

I'd happily pay for this feature.

2 weeks into every league I start hiding transmutes and what not only because its tedious.

If people would quit over this, they PROBABLY aren't paying for packs anyways so it's not like they matter from a company standpoint.

two things I would happily pay for:

1) A pet that picks up currency (you can ever set a threshold on what can be picked up (ie: Doesn't pick up Divines or whatever)

2) A "Premium" tab that makes a merchant in my HO that trades currency based on what I set. (ie: an AH for currency disguised as a player run shop)

sure mate as i am 1 of this not paying players ho well quit the moment they add auto pets i call your point BS

Judging by the posts, it is sad to see that the current playerbase is completely different than the one from the original days.

Original days, you mean where we had 5% of current currencies and were farming merciless lunaris temple and piety in full party?

The game changed SO much over the years, feels logical that what is left from the original playerbase won't stay the same.

Not a fan of clicking 1000000 times per minute, I'm getting way too old for that shit.

Just give me the option to pick up non-essential currency and don't give me any bull about bots (they have autopick ready) or 6 man parties, having the pet pick up a limited number of currency per second in a limited radius while respecting the loot filter options should fix that.

I enjoy picking up some currency, but I wouldn't be opposed to hoovering up lesser currency.

I fondly remember the relief of no longer having to stop and pick up every Metamorph part. This would be in the same vein.

As Pr13st said above, the game has changed; there are FAR more currency items these days, many of which can be considered lesser items. And with the way that many builds ramp up and maintain power, stopping to pick up said items can feel like driving through potholes.
Wild guess: pick-up pets are associated with Asian pay-to-win games, and Westerners are not too fond of p2w monetization practices.

My personal opinion: in PoE it's already a meme that any build that uses more than one button for attacking is 'too much to handle' and that PoE is basically an AFK game that you can play while watching Youtube. So Adding auto pick-up would reduce interaction with the game even more.

If you are not a fan of clicking, then why won't we go all the way? Login, set GGG developed AI and let it play automatic, killing mobs, picking up loot, crafting items, automatic selling, automatic stashtab sorting, ... You don't have to click a million times anymore, the game will just play itself. Amazing right!? QOL right!? You can now just watch TV and check in at the end of the session to count your divine orbs.

POE 2 is designed primarily for console.
The GGG we know will implement this feature
and then the pet will be configured to pick every item
with priority of the worst first
and will not work with currency items

Just to piss off the ones who asked for it lol

This ! (harbinger currency shards, legion splinters, breach splinters, maybe low level currency (transmut/augment/whetstone/scrap/scrolls)

You still need to backtrack but not to click on it. Best compromise between Automated pickup and no pickup at all.

As we do it for gold coins in D3, just walking on them ...
The amount of screen clutter from a loot perspective, and clicks required from PoE ie among the worst I have ever played in this genre.

It has gotten slightly better with the frequency and quantity adjustments(stacks dropping) but it's still bad overall.

They do have auto-vacuum already for Azurite and Expedition, and I dont see how a drop down option for some lesser currencies in this vein would be detrimental for game.

Paid QoL (pet pickup) is much different from P2W especially in this context. I'm not sure what anyone "wins" besides averting wrist pain, and saving time, but some folks like to pearl clutch.

I suppose I dont care either way, but the hyperbole here of the games demise because a pet they monetized (or even default loot option) sucked up some wisdom scrolls or chance orbs is a bit much imo.

Probably overkill / defeating the purpose: remove ground loot entirely, collect it all in some stash that exists only within a given map and then before tping out you can simmer through the loot and pick what you want. Filter applicable of course.
