What's your #1 issue with the current state of the game?

99.9% of the time you're sitting at max health, and everything's a cakewalk.

.1% of the time you're suddenly dead out of seemingly nowhere. Hope you were recording so you can go back and analyze frame by frame and *maybe* figure out what even happened.

Almost never in between. And of course, when it is in between, the game is designed for you to just instantly logout.

I'd like to adjust your numbers to 90% - 10%, at least that was my experience the last two leagues.
The current direction of the game is to strongly reduce player agency, power, ability to craft.

The main negative impact of this is to reduce viability of non-meta builds.

So #1 issue: in a game with infinite theoretical possibilities, the devs work really hard to funnel you into a few small predetermined possibilities.

You could solve this in two ways
-Increase player agency (Harvest, more deterministic crafting)

-Improved balance in the skills so you dont have tons of worthless skills, a small group of decent ones, and 4 or 5 way overperforming ones. This would be hard.

Skill balance
I don't like how they continuously keep ignoring 80% of their skills.

Weapon Scaling
Regular weapon scaling is dead, outside a few examples. It's all about attributes/armor/accuracy/omi/whatever scaling. Gem scaling skills just feel SO DAMN much better to progress with, than weapon scaling skills. This is probably my number one issue.

Melee
I don't like how they refuse to make melee smoother and less clunky.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

The state of Harvest / the lack of Recombinators. There are some niche builds I'd like to play in trade but alas the items I need don't exist or aren't listed. Same story with SSF. The game being balanced around trade is lame.
Skill balance is really my only big issue. When they make uber uber uber bosses and harder mapping endgame. They need to get better at skill balance to make sure different skills/builds are able to keep up.

I wanted to do an Earthquake build for the first time in a long time, but its simply not feasible to get it to do enough dps
#1 Issue: The 7,000 Exalted Orbs that I grinded out over the past two years are now worthless. I'd like to return to the game, but not until GGG does something to level the playing field. You can't run a game based on one currency and then just decide that currency is worthless. They could have chosen to make Divines more desirable AND kept Exalts valuable by reducing the drop rates or something else like that - they chose not to.

I've been burned, and if GGG doesn't fix it, I'm not coming back.

The simple change would have been to remove the 6-Link vendor recipe, to make well rolled uniques more valuable, while maintaining Exalts uses as Metacraft materials.

That wouldn't involve throwing darts at wall levels of game design though.
PoE2 is a great tutorial for PoE1.

Agree on Melee and Skills, though I dont see them as "#1-ish"

To your other suggestion, they have to be super careful on assigning base power balance to gems. If you do that you get the minion on problem on steroids, which was that gear was pretty insignificant beyond scaling gem level.

Personally I think that AN proliferating every mechanic, zone, and map, loot/currency pressure, and pushing layered gamba rng to the extreme is of far greater concern.
