Why some people prefer to play SSF ?

ssf is barren land, same as hardcore. THE VAST MAJORTY OF PLAYERS, I dare to say 95%-97% play standard trade league. Dont judge the game by what the twitch streamers play

when i played, i would always prefer to play SSF but it wasn't always feasible.

playing trade, it essentially devalues the game into just a chaos per hour simulator. if you're not doing the absolute best most efficient farming strat you always feel like you're missing out. sure you made 5 exalts today but you could have made 15, blah blah.
it isn't that people can't play trade for the experience, but greed usually prevails.

playing SSF is a whole new bag. it pretty much forces you into knowing and playing every aspect of the game. the experience is a great learning one and rewarding one, however its much much more time consuming than even normal trade grinding.
the gear will eventually come, but you really gotta choose your battles in SSF.

for witnessing such an experience you can watch "all for one" by Lighty, where he is on a mission to get every unique in SSF. its pretty crazy how powerful and how far he can get in SSF - but again it all depends how much time and effort you can put into it. common tale for this game
I play SSF mostly because I like finding and crafting my own items. It's always interesting to see what strange thing drops/corrupts that makes me change my playstyle or skill loadout. This league, it was a ring with an early corrupt that negated bleed. Later I got an abyssal jewel that blocked both corrupted blood and silence. If I were in trade, I'd just grind currency and then buy whatever looked good at the time.
I play in trade but generally w/ a ssf mentality. If i find a really good item Ill list it and hope to get a quick leg up or something expensive/hard to find. in ssf you dont need a price tool... tbh unless the servers perform better or a streamer I dont have any good reasons to play ssf over trade.

While I don't trade (because it's a PITA), I do play mainly Standard. I tried SSF once, and it was great at the start, for all the reasons that a new league can be, every drop being potentially meaningful, and all that... Until it wasn't. Pretty soon, SSF became Standard lite, with a big pile of twinking gear for any new builds I wanted to play. I transferred all my goodies back to Standard and left SSF behind. ='[.]'=

I play SSF because trading is extremely unenjoyable and I want nothing to do with it.

You can do that in the trade league, of course, and I did, before SSF was added. Now that it's there I use it just to be counted as part of the numbers of people using it.
SSF makes drops matter and makes you operate within the game without trade considerations, so you don't think I'll sell X because its worth Y - you either want to use it or you don't.

It limits what you have access to, but then makes the reward loop much more involved and interesting.

Not for everyone to be sure but definitely has its perks. I use the various SSF races to scratch my itch as I prefer light trading in a league. I still play like its SSF most of my characters use gear I craft myself, but trade allows to me to fill out the very niche slots i'd have to rule out if playing solo.

I always play SSF in every game because I love killing and looting on my own. I also cant stand trading and MP. For me its all about my journey.
Having to whisper 30+ people for a single trade should be reason enough to try SSF.
My most hated game.
My most favorite game.
Such is the duality of man.
Extra challenge, different playstyle compared to the trade League, lone wolf mentality. To be fair trade leagues are mostly currency farming simulator where all that matters is how many Exalteds you can farm per hour to buy everything your character needs so there's definitely this special charm that SSF has where you play only with items you find yourself.

I definitely have a lone wolf mentality, and avoid interacting with other players as much as possible even in online multiplayer games. Sometimes SSF sounds tempting to me, but then again I have no idea how to play it compared to the currency farming simulator and lack general knowledge about good item modifiers, good bases, crafting - which is all important knowledge for succeed in SSF.
