Divines are not the new exalt

Divines will be FAR more rare and expensive.

Only 1 div card.
No recipe.
No shards.

They are not the same.

This change would have been fine if they only changed some of the meta crafts cost and left others as exalt cost or if they had added divine shards or more divine div cards.

As it stands GGG just utterly destroyed meta crafting, and wrecked timeless jewels as well as turning exalts into a useless currency. I'm sure there are other implications I have yet to consider.

Chris so badly wants us to exalt slam everything. That's the entire reason they did this.

Leo gone, aisling changed a while ago, aug harvests gone.

It's clear they want exalt slamming 1.2 life regen on your 5x t1 modded chest to be a core feature of the game.

While I understand the intent of this attempt at a shift I think they missed. More than missed in fact. They shot a cannon ball at a glass house because a window was dirty.

They didn't miss, you just dont like what they were shooting at, and what they shot with.

They want uniques to be more powerful, rare, and random.

They want less meta crafting.

They were enraged about the the legion jewel algorithm being cracked.

In their eyes mission accomplished. In most players eyes though? "What the fuck?" Seems the reasonable response.

In terms of what they're going for, I think they did miss. I think they literally want people to use Exalts on their rare equipment. That's not going to happen, even if the ratio is 20:1.

They don't want Exalts to be the static de facto currency. I think they missed there as well and Exalts will remain. Items where you were paying 10s of chaos for will now be listed in 1-10 exalts instead. All they did was change the ratio.

I honestly believe Exalt holds the currency crown because of its lack of use and rarity of drop. They just made the problem worse since it has even less uses now. I seriously doubt the community is like oh, okay, let's use this exalt to get light radius on our rings now. Yay!

So yeah, I think they missed.

If they really wanted to hit the mark, they should made the exalt more like this:

"Augments a rare item with a new high tier mod." (Meaning T3 or better....or whatever)

That would dramatically reduce the risk taken on an item since you're only fighting the number of possible mods rather than number of mods and mod tiers.

So I'll keep putting this in posts so people can call me an idiot later: Exalts will remain the de facto trading currency next to Chaos Orbs. Divine Orbs will only replace the Exalt for extremes (much like the Mirror listed items...but lower value than mirror).
Thanks for all the fish!

I think you missed my point. You, I, anyone else can think they missed, but what actually matter is if GGG thinks they missed the mark.

I suppose that remains to be seen balance wise, but its not like this was an accidental philosophical and economic shift.

I was just going off what they said their reasoning and goal was for the changes. I can't say for certain if they missed until league starts. Their intention was not to change it without any thoughts on expected outcomes. They had clear outcomes they expect from that change, and that's what I predict they missed on.

Paraphrasing what I recall their expected outcomes were:

"
-Exalt is no longer the de facto trading currency.

-There was a comment that almost sounded like they expected Divines to become a competing if not dominant trade currency. (Inferred by me, not stated directly)

-They want Exalted orbs to be used for Crafting directly more often (not indirectly through metacrafting)

I think the only one that has any chance of happening is the second bullet. The other two are going to be complete misses for what I inferred as their goals. (Obviously just an opinion...facts will come later)

Thanks for all the fish!

Classic GGG : They want both orbs to be kind of equal, but Divines will indeed be way way way more valuable than exalts ever were.

Anyways to me it's baffling they actually touched the iconic Exalted Orb after so many years, I think many will feel like it's a funeral.

I don't mind it really for trade, but I planned for SSF upcoming league and boy is it a blow to crafting in SSF !

Vote with your feet, and your wallet. If you're not happy with the direction the game has taken or will take very soon, there's lots of other things to do with your time.

It may come to pass that this is another 3.15 teaching moment for Chris, and we might come back after a couple really rough fiscal quarters at GGG to find they've made time to develop some additional div cards that give divines, or a new vendor recipe, or new crafting tools.

Or maybe not, and people who like to take a more active role in their character outlay will find a permanent home in other RPGs.

Ok GGG this is what I see. So divine is the new exalt, I know this because I have today sold all lower end 6 links that I am more that sure people are vendering for Divine orbs. What does this mean to playing the game. Divine Orbs almost never drop, maybe I see 5 to 10 drops a season (maybe). So how do you get divines then? Well you Vendor your 6 links rather than sell them (immediately worth whatever the new Divine cost is, today it is a 109-Chaos, I think it was around 15 yesterday. So really what this is doing is corrupting the Trade/game. All 6 links have immediately gone up in cost whatever the divine orb value settles at. This means early on in a league there will not be any cheaper 6 links for sale at a price that most people will have earned. Even tabula Rasa will be rather than 20 to 50c hundred/s of chaos depending on what the Divine orb is trading for in Chaos. Many players will probably not even get to maps. Five links will also now become much more expensive.

Is this really what you wanted GGG? this maybe a game breaker and totally blows up trading so people will not be able to make a complete build. Hmmmmmm?

you missed the part where, starting next friday, vendoring a 6link DOES NOT GIVE A DIVINE. it gives 20 fuses.

In addition, the map that drops the divine orb card has been removed from the atlas.
