Minions were already TRASH before and only good at one thing but now...

The charge apes i will ignore from now on (they already had bad survivability in maps) and use other means to get charges like Victario's Charity.
As a SSF player this will slow down my leveling experience but that shield is relatively speaking more common than other items and with beast crafting it can be kinda target farmed.

Also not using any buff spectres till in unlocking Arena Master since they seem to have a nice health pool and are a more reliable external source of buffing my main minions.

Problem: Skeletons underperfom at high levels. Solution: Nerf them.
In compensation give mods that might fill the gap, although at the expense of other mods that give the player more life or resistances...
Am I missing something?

My guess is that skeletons are popular because they are more convenient, not because they outperform other minions. They can be summoned at any time and they have no cooldown. Zombies are much tougher, but very slow if you play with other people, better to clean the map, but against a boss die after 1 seg and take too long to rise them again.
I understand GGG logic to nerf a popular choice to force people to try new things. They add or take out 10% here or there but they complete miss the point why those choices are more popular without providing a real viable alternative game style.

Skeletons were popular because they had insane clearspeed with close to 0 investment.
Uber Bosses are just small addition, even if the build sucks at them, what is important is the clearspeed during mapping. Thats why skills become meta.

This is BS. Skelly Mages and Skellies dont have "insane" clear speed.

They were good for non-uber bossing, relatively safe, and protected you from the clicking simulator PoE tends to be.

It's a low stress build that really isnt OP at anything, but is very good generally speaking in terms of survivalbility, damage, and ease of play.

No, its not. I played Skele Mages in Scourge league and to this day I didnt play build with better clearspeed and I have hard time thinking about any build that would have betetr clear speed with low investment. (so no wanders, no HH, no Megablood etc)

There are much better options for cleaning maps for a similar budget. Skeleton mages are only slightly better than siege totems without the benefit of a bow that deal 100k dps.
