Am I the only one who thinks that Path of Exile 2 is better than Diablo 4?

Will it have better graphics and animations? Sure. Will that make it a better game? Of course not. I'm playing a game, I'm not watching a movie. Gameplay, with all that offers, will ALWAYS trump graphics.

This point needs to be reiterated. I couldn't agree with it more. Cinematics and great visuals make for a fun initial playthrough, but it quickly becomes a side note to the actual gameplay. Smooth gameplay is also important, but for me that will mean nothing if the game is shallow. An ARPG needs depth and diversity -- which for me means diversity of items, builds and encounters.

well, at very least d4 as a fresh released game should be quite grounded- by that i mean balanced, intuitive, everything should work and you will be able to do whatever you want as it was in poe.
good balance doesn't mean it's a better game lmao
3.26 when?
Don't abandon us. don't turn your backs on the ones loving poe.

Again I'm not necessarily trying to convince some of you that my thinking is somehow more relevant, I'm merely pointing out that the greatest of games can be hamstrung by technical and gameplay issues.

The PoE gameplay and combat loop is bad right now if ask me. The screen clutter, the mob popping zooming, the massive amount of on-death, chasing, hindering, mob mechanics are out of control. Depending on the build you are playing, you pop a few scarabs, have a deli, have shrines or strong boxes in your atlas tree, and you will not be able to see what's happening.

Which is totally OK. I perfectly understand that it isn't for everyone, and I certainly agree that improvements can be made.

But you have this "ability" to make Diablo (4) seem like the Mother Theresa of games just because it "looks amazing", which - especially in the ARPG landscape - should just be one of the jigsaw pieces needed to make a game "good".

But I guess it will ALWAYS boil down to WHY we play games, and WHY we play ARGPs. I will never play an ARPG because it "looks amazing". I can TRY it because it looks amazing, but I will never play it a lot because it looks amazing.

But hey, depending on the monetization model, Blizzard doesn't need us to play it (a lot), they just need us to buy it, so it's important it looks amazing.

Sure, though gameplay issues are subjective to the person and their rig. I think I saw one less than perfect visual during this league. It was playing with a few friends and we are all playing absolutely clusterfuck 4th of July builds trying to get the 200 simulcrum splinters where we piled everything imaginable into a map -- and honestly it was like a 2-3 second blip on the radar when everything in the map happened to converge on a single spot.

I could throw my specs in here, but I think it's more complicated than that as POE tends to find the weakest link in a system and then the outcome is poor.

Don't get me wrong, my computer is not normal and it's not reasonable to say that the game is well optimized. I would never imagine even hinting at that. I'm just saying that gameplay issues are not universal. There you go. POE is P2W. :)
Thanks for all the fish!

We will find out soon enough. If D4 has the combat and polish (which is basically a guarantee), and they manage to have an interesting gameplay loop with some of the items they have already highlighted, then I think we have a winner here.

To be fair, some real good competition for PoE might be a great thing, for both games, and by default, the players.

The implicit is already doubled. It's PoE 4.

Yes, you are the only one. Because neither of them exist and you played neither of them.
So I played Diablo, D2 and D3 for years. D2 was great. I finally left D3 2 1/2 years ago for several reasons:

1. No trading practically speaking.
2. The seasons just became repetitive with no new content.
3. I got bored.

POE addresses those concerns. However,

1. Poe is very complex, which overall is good. The other side of that is that I never seem to fully understand what’s going on in the league seasons, and I find it hard to get understanable explanations even though I’ve been trying. I just read an article on recombination that was depressing in it’s complexity. I’m still learning some basics.

2. In D2 and D3 it seemed easy to make friends and usually played in groups. That hasn’t been my experience in POE, although I may just not know how to do it.

Overall I find POE more entertaining, rewarding and enjoyable than D3, especially the new leagues and associated mechanics.
My signature.

Have a nice day. Back to Sacred 2 EE. ^_^
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
