i think i kno why GGG cant balance
In normal games of this type/genre , the game usually tells you what you are doing wrong by killing you.
But PoE morphed into state where it kills you even if you are making the good choices. I'd say the room for error in making the correct choice is actually getting smaller, because the game design expects you to always make the right choice. I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age. |

" currently blight, delve and alva is won or lost regardless of your choices. bad mod combo and you WILL fail it. delve by ouright killing you with bs multiplier stacking (sometimes resulting in as much as 600% more damage taken, just because), alva/blight by mobs being simply incompatible with encounter design (assasin mobs jumping to the pump, juggernaut ignoring CC towers, mobs ingnoring tower's damage type etc etc) you can make all the good choices (already limiting build design space SIGNIFICANTLY because you no longer can outplay your gearing deficiencies) and still fail the state blight is nowadays was the straw that made me quit the game entirely - you just no longer can outplay things if RNG says 'f u' |

GGG cant balance because they dont want to, simple as that. They will continue to make terrible decisions until they are held accountable. the only way that happens is people walking away, and not spending any money at all on the game.

GGG can't balance for one simple reason: they don't test their game.
Every. Single. League. it is OBVIOUS that they have never tested the actual gameplay. They make sure the game functions (most of the time...) but beyond that, they do nothing. Hard to balance something when you don't actually play test it...look at all the numbers on paper you want, it tells you NOTHING. This ain't zork. |

Can't balance because they went too far with randomizer. AN mods can be unfairly dangerous on some builds or situations, so should not be randomized and mandatory. Like a RF character can skip a map with no regen because is unfair fort the build.

Imbalance is a feature not a bug. Makes Everyone sign up to find META all over again. Plays on human nature.
Balance is easy. Hard caps on DPS and defenses but they wont go there. Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on May 31, 2022, 9:44:40 AM

" Avoiding an encounter is, technically, a way of dealing with it, so such a desire is illogical on its face. Making each and every enemy unavoidable isn't exactly good design... and that's before you add on something like the flawed implementation of Archnemesis, where certain mod combination can outright negate entire builds. I have seen it suggested, and I agree, that AM should have remained opt-in content (example, a cluster on the atlas tree related to 'X rare tangos on each map are Archnemeses'). Now, it is claimed that GGG doesn't properly test content... not just 'does it function?' but in terms of how it interacts with the rest of the game (this also means leveling characters through the content from scratch, not using premade kits based on the 'top 1%'). I would be interested in hearing their rationale for ignoring the wisdom of sayings like 'measure twice, cut once' (which are sayings for a reason). White Knight of the Order of Mihoshi Enthusiasts

GGG never intended to balance anything. The game just needs to be relatively good and get additions to it to attract a constant stream of players. constant change - not balance - to lure people in (or back) is their marketing strategy and the key to longevity of the game.

They can't balance because they've never had a long term plan. They just throw crap at the wall every league to see what sticks. The problem is, it all stinks.
I've seen some seriously inept game development over the decades but this just takes the cake. It's unreal. The nerfs will continue until morale improves. Last edited by Rippster#4037 on Jun 5, 2022, 11:29:19 AM
