i think i kno why GGG cant balance
" Should've read the terms of service before paying. Believe it or not, there's no part of this product you have any rights to. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

They can't because the game is too big and complex. They're too busy creating more stuff to add to the game to actually play it the way we do.
They could try to take every factor into account, but with how convoluted systems are, it isn't worth the effort when they can ship something mostly tested/done and fix it later. Balance ultimately happens when player data and feedback is used to make changes and sand off all the rough edges. We will always be the beta testers. I just wish they would stop trying to fix things that aren't broken, and in the process break them. It usually gets fixed with time, but the constant cycle of two steps forward, one massively confusing and painful step back is really wearing me down. |

" I think as a paying customer you have a right to customer service. GGG neither replies to or helps almost anybody with any problems, concerns, or issues -- unless it's MTX related, and even then only some type of MTX things get attention. My game has been hardlocking for 3 days now, every 2 minutes. This is the 3rd league it happened. The first time it never stopped, the whole league I couldn't play for more than 2-3 minutes (was introduced after a hotfix). in 3.16 it started ater a hotfix. the game was fucking 100% bricked and unplayable for the last 2 months or more of the league. in 3.17 no problems until randomly it showed up again, after a hotfix, but thankfully after the next hotfix it was gone... Never happened again. Now in 3.18 after a hotfix here it is... again. No other game, program, app, or ANYTHING causes this to happen except POE, and it doesn't matter what i'm doing in POE, I could go straight to hideout, and boom, hardlock frozen computer within 2 minutes. I've been trying to get some form of customer service about this for 3 leagues now... Not a word. Last edited by Rakie1337#5746 on May 18, 2022, 11:02:26 AM

As far as "paying customers" go, it is a free game. If you paid for MTX and you got the MTX then you got your money's worth. It doesn't validate your opinion or entitle you to anything but what you bought.
That being said, all of us have a right as players whether we've paid for something or not to voice our concerns in this forum. The fact that GGG has provided us a feedback forum means we all have the right to voice our opinions. They(our opinions) are not immune to disagreement and criticism because it is a public forum but we do have the right to complain as we wish. To add the OP's discussion; I've always been confused as to why mods have always seemed to be able to stack to infinity. Clearly the game can be challenging enough without infinitely stacking damage, life, life regen, immunities, resistances, other things that disable a build completely, etc and then add map mods and league mechanics on top. " Ah, that kind of thing. Not sure if any f2p game developer will offer you personal tech support and make sure that the game runs well on your specific hardware, or at least I haven't heard of any. The most you can do is make a detailed bug report so they're aware of the issue, if there are a lot of people with a similar problem they will likely at least look into it, but if it's just a few guys I don't think they'll bother. Just to point out that the terms of service say that GGG is under no obligation to provide you service. You could be getting an error message "try again, sucker" when you try to log in, just you, and they wouldn't have to lift a finger. That's pretty standard for f2p games, though. Anyway, it kinda sounds like a memory leak to me, you can try keeping track of how much ram gets used as you're playing, the game did have problems with that now and then. " Because if mob stats were capped, there could be a situation where someone is powerful enough to never die to a capped monster. And GGG hates when people can't die. I get it from the standpoint of a player choosing to engage in multiple layers of difficult content. Taking on a corrupted essence monster red beast that is ghosted in an 8 mod T16 100% delirious map? Yeah, it should probably be next to impossible to kill unless your build is godlike. But then you get a monster that just has multiple defensive buffs and regen, multiple damage buffs, maybe it turns off a key part of your build, or throws down an effigy in the middle of a boss slam and its just painful to fight against. The reward isn't even worth the time. Ultimately I don't think they care what the gameplay feels like as long as players are dying. If they aren't dying then the game is too easy. I mean look at the boss kill race, even the best players in the game playing the best builds were dying to arbitrary league mobs, not even the super uber content they made to really test yourself on. I can't think of another non-pvp focused game that has the mentality of "Even if you play this game for 12 hours a day for your job, for 10,000+ hours, only using the strongest meta builds, and avoid content too hard for your character, you should still be wary of death, even in early game content" Because it makes the new or more casual player experience truly awful. I'm pretty sure alkaizer died more times this league than every gauntlet event combined? Last edited by jerot#5117 on May 18, 2022, 8:58:01 PM

it works both ways.
ggg did not cap players nor the mobs. its ironic d2 is reference a lot when talking about balance, but in d2 players would find it hard to do more than 25 attacks per second while in poe its.... different. [Removed by Support]

They simply don't want to put manpower into this. That simple.
If this league didn't glaringly show that, I don't know what will. They drastically changed a fundamental part of the game: monsters. Their change was sweeping. "Hey! Lets spice things up and put all these archnemesis mods on all rare and magic monsters, basically everything!" "Cool, do it. But don't we need to change a bunch of the mods so they don't interact poorly or aren't immune?" "Nah, too much work. It'll be fine." "That's rather flippant. This is, like what the game is built around: killing monsters. Won't it brick some of our core content, like blight or incursions?" "Nah, it'll be fine. See, I have this slider that changes monster health. Easy peasy!" "Uh, that doesn't change the interactions of the mods." "Hmmm, what? Oh, uhm. Hey, check out these sentinels!" "Yeah, we've lost the most players in the first week ever." |
