How to NOT be THAT trading <person>

This may be slightly controversial, but:

Do not request a trade with me, join my party to have me exit a fairly juiced map wasting a portal, quit my party after entering my hideout without completing the trade. Even after politely asking why exiting after accepting the invite, nothing is said, I have implemented a personal policy of ignoring these players.

I DO NOT CARE if you popped off 15 requests to others having the same item, if I send you an invite and YOU ACCEPT IT, then the parties are in consensual agreement up to the point of the trade, meaning unless you verbalize a negotiation then the "price is the price"; however, YOU SHOULD communicate that. Simply leaving without saying anything will result in permanent ignore.

Far too often these days, people think it's acceptable to spam others for trade and waste people's time and if MORE of us started to place these people on IGNORE, then perhaps these events will lessen. Maybe this issue is NOT new (I'm sure it isn't); however, it has become worse over the last two leagues.

When asking for trade, BE PATIENT, give it at least 30 seconds for that person to respond. The player may be in Delve, Heist, or in a difficult map when you sent that request. I have literally sent an invite 5 seconds after a request to only have it insta-declined. You do that to me, and you will be added to my ever-growing list of ignored names.

I would not be surprised by now, that 23k out of 24k current players are on this list of mine :)

Thanks for reading my diatribe, now back to your regularly scheduled programming....

you will be running out of ignore slots pretty soon... :)
But I 100% understand and agree with you.
Thanks for the reply, but out of curiosity, is there a limit ? Asking for a friend ..lol

Yes, there is a limit. I just normally reset my list each league since that person may not even be playing the game anymore. I don't reset my trade site ignores though, since not many people make it on that one.

yup and I think it's 100.
Thanks for that info!
Don't trade while you're mapping. Just turn your off your tabs unless it's a big ticket item. People makes mistakes, they change their mind at the last second, see a better deal etc. and don't want to go through with the trade. Yes it's annoying, and yes they are wasting your time, but it's up to you to find ways to mitigate being screwed over like this, and I can't help but wonder if you're only hurting yourself by mass ignoring potential clients who may very well just be making an honest mistake. The copypasta reads something like "I want to buy this item from you" it doesn't say "I am contractually obligated to buy this item from you once I've entered your hideout".

If you want to ignore everyone, you can just as well play SSF.

Point well taken, thanks.

Using the phrase "contractually... " was a bit misplaced, but if I make a mistake, which I've done many times, on an item that I said I wanted but then I did NOT need, I commonly tell the person "Sorry, I made a mistake" rather than just leaving. That's what I am referring to.

The intent of the original post is to shed light on good, courteous practice when trading. Until, someday, GGG invents an auction house or other means of trading, I suppose things like this will continue.

Your other point, going DND while mapping is something I usually do, but there are times I want to read guild chat, trade chat while mapping and while going DND, we don't see any messages at all... unless there's an option to allow it while DND... /shrug

I'm a bad player and SSF, while fun I'm sure, isn't my bag of tea. Plus, I have no positive RNG to survive SSF.

Thanks
