What is your #1 issue with PoE? (not joking edition)

Maven... crafting/gamblin... Lack of QoL features and sub-optimal QoL features that need improvement... bots... no balance in movement speed and other mechanic that GGG dont care

The balance of the game is my #1 issue

This includes item balance, like the atrocious decisions made on many unique melee weapons

This includes the nerfed support gems instead of nerfing main skill gems that were deemed too powerful

This includes the fact that nearly all content punishes melee and close range while heavily rewarding off-screen or instant killing

This includes the gigantic dump they took on Harvest, which has been one of the best concepts to ever come from GGG

This includes the non-stop random nerfs being applied to cluster jewels with zero buffs and zero new additions

Just look at the player count

https://steamcharts.com/app/238960#1y

Never in the history of POE have we seen such a massive drop off in 1 month

This is factually the worst performing league to ever be released from GGG

They came out with zero new skills for the first time in the history of expansions

They barely introduced any content in this once a year expansion

They are falling behind and their product is morphing into an utter disgrace of the once proud POE

All of this is happening because of the people in charge of balance, and the fact that they are rerouting more than 60% of their entire office to work on POE 2

Which has lead to every league in the past nearly 2 years, to come out as a beta

Be filled with issues

And get abandoned after a week or so

I am afraid of the future of this game and the longevity due to the sheer fact that the dev team shoots themselves in the foot at every chance they get

They refuse to give qol and refuse to implement obvious features that would greatly improve the player experience

Why?

Because mah vision

You'd think I'd have a laundry list but honestly I can trace all my issues with PoE back to one thing: it's free to play.

Happy to elaborate but it's more fun if you try to imagine PoE as a buy to play for yourself. I mean it'd probably be 'dead' in terms of population (which for a buy to play means very little: Grim Dawn keeps on truckin', after all) and Chris wouldn't be filthy fucking rich but dollars to doughnuts it'd be a much better ARPG. Most problems I've seen over the years with PoE can be traced back to the free to play model. Not all, but most.

Hey look, two paragraphs. Wait, three. Fuck.

The more I think about it, the more that I have to agree with this.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

Too easy to beat. No joke, I complete all the tasks in trade league in less than 2 weeks. Unless I create a challenge going to ssf it becomes meaningless to continue in trade league. This might be a problem caused by how I aim to achieve stuff in games but PoE becomes boring after I go 40/40. I would love to see more challenges, more goals to complete other than ssf.

Private leagues, HC, playing without a chest piece... you can do lots of things if you want to.

Thats putting self challenges, no different than the ssf route.

Innocence forgives you
I dont understand those people who still play poe and only complain omegalul
exploding dead bodies,
this thing is very op and very suddenly that its like the random reflect map mod before and random rare with volatile.

is is so unbalance and overpowered. I have a 80k guardian and it almost killed it.

i died to it a few times in sc and 1 time in HC, this thing cant be negated at all even with my max resistance rf, max suppress and max 75/75spell/attack block.

They dont even give color filter on the chest too regarding this thing.

That's because I have thought about it a lot. A person's argument can only be seemingly simplistic *and yet* increasingly provocative after a whole heap of introspection and unhealthy unpicking of something almost inherently resistant to reductive thinking.

I'm not saying every other problem listed in this thread wouldn't exist had the game not been free to play, but I do believe most of them would be closer to the acceptable range of things. But that's the catch-22: part of something's vast success is its vast popularity, and part of its vast popularity is having plenty of non-fatal shit to bitch about. It's about as necessary an evil as bots and RMT; it's the back-handed slap of finally being parodied by Weird Al. GGG knew they'd made it as a free to play juggernaut when people started spending a lot of money and resources to illegally profit from their free product.

Besides, complaining in moderation can be healthy. It's a bit like swearing after hurting yourself. A short term outburst here and there to minimise longer-term issues like repression. Unfortunately, people who are apt to do one thing so much they see plenty to complain about it can easily transfer the compulsiveness of doing that thing to the compulsiveness of complaining about it.

The two are not dissimilar at all.

And that's why I sought the solace of a reduction, a single encapsulating complaint explaining most if not all of the others. A Theory of Everything that doesn't need to be true, just true enough to shut me the fuck up.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
