What a selfish thing to do, to "subtly FORCE" people to stay online and at the keyboard IF they wish to SELL their items (make space in stash, progress faster).
- SURE, creating and insisting on a 10 year old, inspired by a 10,000 year old system, which Forces people to manually spend a minute or more doing a single trade transaction (where a single craft plan can take several transactions and dozens of whisper spams and portal/LS hopping) doesn't make GGG any money, directly! SURE, RISKING people to lose several-days' worth of farming's currency, and stash space, just because they got the NEED4SLEEP and missed out on a majority of sales, doesn't directly earn GGG any money. SURE, forcing people to burn a map device portal if they want to make a sale (or abandon lab, or anything else), and even more fun when you're trying to do a 6 man run- doesn't "earn them money directly". BUT, it does artificially INFLATE the "Stock" every player is holding in their stash, which can only be reduced if you are ONLINE to sell it, and not just online, but ON THE KEYBOARD. IF they slow everything down, any sum of actions is done over a longer period of time. The point isn't to make everything lightning fast, but to keep it efficient enough at a point where GGG isn't the only one having everything to win by keeping the system as it is (along with well-adapted scammer scum), AND "risk losing" ALL THOSE "one-sided benefits" if they make it even marginally better. "What do they get from all this?" :- *Inflated player "online time", looks great on reports. They don't care if people play. They just care about them being online. (and preferably, buying copious amounts of cosmetics) *Force-inflated stashes lead to more stash sales. Which becomes a Pay-4-Advantage (P4A) purchasable benefit. along with "PRIVILEGE" to list your items for sale directly from your stash (another time saver advantage). *They literally let "others do the work" of compensating for their 0 effort trade system, where community members create tools to help others. THEN GGG will at times copy paste the idea, after OTHERS spend all their effort and time on r&d. Player wallet is primary. Player's time and player's experience of the game is secondary at best. Look at this false idol of a purported "hardcore F2P with no ingame P2W MTX" that FORCES PEOPLE TO STAY ONLINE, even after they're done "playing" for the day. Just so they can be MESSAGED by others, and then be at the keyboard to make the trade! How did most people here come to accept the mechanisms involved in the Economy the way they are? People are so often bending their logic so hard just to do all the rationalization for ggg. Suffering regardless of awareness, and then justifying it with some one sided sense of connection to the "indie small hardcore diablo fans' studio". Do ALL of this if you want to, but at least avoid the hypocrisy by expressing conflicting 'intentions and future plans', and drop the "hardcore pure F2P with NO p2w advantage". Every time I need to trade for something within 2 minutes I'm saying to myself "God I hate this game."
There are several things about this game that had I known, I wouldn't have spent a quarter of what I have to "support" the game. |

Sometimes just collecting 50-100 deaf essences for a brain-dead craft slam sesh itself can take over half an hour and over 30 whisper copy+spams+tab-out/tab-ins, especially if it's done NOT during the peak play hours when more people's items are "allowed to be bought", or in GGG's framing, "when those people CHOOSE voluntarily to come online to sell those items". And even with the scattershot time investing i've done into the game over the decade, i'm STILL shocked that somehow I clocked in like 5k+ hours just on steam, since it was standalone early on. (but over 1.5-2k hours just sleeping afk hoping I can reply to some trades on waking up, and still avoid some losses. This is a HARDCORE game made for PRO GAMERS. Yeeeah, that's right. If you want it ez, there are millions of clicker games out there more fitting for your audience. PoE is about TURBO CAPITALISM. You gotta earn your privilege.
For such pro gamers as myself, you don't see us complaining it is too much work. Stop blaming the devs if you can't be bothered to gather the same game knowledge and being savvy with your deals. I default attack exalts every hour because I actually do some weight-lifting, I go to gym and I do my stuff. My chaos res goes always positive because that's what you do if you are a pro gamer. So how about some git gut. Trading is better than ever and you can you can basically, it's raining loot left and right out there, you can kill Sirus with LMB. |
