On the naming of things... in PoE, or, The thesaurus can be dangerous
Someone (or more than one) among the devs is responsible for naming a variety of things, and it is clear they are resorting to the use of a thesaurus for synonyms to use.
Thus, we have "cannula" for quivers, and the dreaded "carnal ape." Yes, a cannula is a sort of tube, but not one in which one might store a flight of arrows. Carnal does have etymological roots meaning "of the flesh," but in the context in which it appears in PoE, it takes on a much more disturbing meaning than a merely carnivorous ape. A piece of advice for anyone using a thesaurus: Keep a dictionary handy, and check the actual definition of a word you found in your thesaurus before using it. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

He explained that.
The words that they chose have implications. The implication that is implied to me about the implications of his implied post is that those implications are sexual in nature. |

After Cut Throat League, we should have a Carnal League.

using cannula to describe a quiver is just wrong.
its definition is : a narrow tube for insertion into a bodily cavity, as for draining off fluid, introducing medication, etc carnal ape is in poor taste. it makes it sound like a "lustful sex ape". Its just poor choice in words by someone trying to make things sound fancy. Its rather common in todays world where sounding intelligent has become the hip thing to do. |

Frankly, I laughed, first time I fought a "carnal ape." It was also a pretty good indication that someone was unaware of just how vague some synonyms supplied by a thesaurus could be, and how that could lead to some inappropriate in-game nomenclature. =^[.]^=
