What burns you out?

I get burnt out by the fact that playing the game is a suboptimal way to upgrade my character.

Currently I need an "Augment Cold" harvest craft. I ran 20 maps with the "Area contains Sacred Grove" Sextant and the "guaranteed Yellow field" Sextant. I didn´t get ANY "Augment" or "non-X to X" craft. And I know what you think. "20 maps? That´s not a lot" and you´re right. But look at it another way: 20 maps with Sacred Grove-sextant means 20 guaranteed gardens. WITHOUT the sextant, but full passive tree investment, you have a 10% chance to encounter the Sacred Grove. That means 20 gardens equal 200 maps. But with the "guaranteed plants of a specific colour"-sextant you get more fields, so 20 gardens WITH sextants are more like 30 gardens WITHOUT sextants - or 300 maps. But the "specific colour"-sextant gives you AT LEAST twice the amount of fields of the colour you want - which means 20 gardens WITH sextants roughly equate to 600 maps WITHOUT sextants. 600 MAPS! That´s what casual players run over the course of an entire league. And you can cram this amount into 20 maps, by buying or rolling the correct sextants. But to get 5 "Sacred Grove"-sextants and 5 specific "specific colour"-sextants you will need about 600 to 800 sextants (based on my personal experience of rolling about 10.000 awakened sextants since 3.17 launch). That costs about 15 to 20 Exalt in Standard SC and slightly more in Archnemesis SC (16 to 21.5ex). For 20 maps! AND no return in the form of what I am looking for, namely the Augment Craft. Don´t get me wrong, I didn´t say I didn´t make currency in those 20 maps - I simply didn´t get the craft I need. So in the end it would have been a better use of my time to simply roll the sextants and sell Charged Compasses so I can buy the craft I need on TFT, instead of playing the game.

But how exactly is a casual player supposed to do this?! They can´t shell out 20 exalt for sextants. Instead they will run those 600 maps over the course of weeks, not get shit for a craft and thus not improve their character through playing. And they also can´t buy those Charged Compasses, because those cost almost the same and they will not get a reasonable return on their investment in the form of the craft they need.

And how exactly are these scales supposed to work for SSF players? Think about how long it takes to farm 800 awakened sextants at the current droprate. For NOT getting the craft you need.

Does this really sound reasonable to anyone? REALLY?!

You do. And the moment you don't "want" anything anymore, the game/character is more or less over. It's all about progression.

right.

i dont have awakened pen, even in standard where i play a lot. i have a 4 figure stack of exalts, 6k chaos orbs, mirrors, i dont have awakened light pen tho. i can afford it, but ill just wait till i find it cause i dont really need it. i want it, i play lightning builds, but playing is about not having everything, having everything and having done everything is the end. if i want the end i dont even need to trade for everything it would be quicker to just close the game and walk away from my computer.

are we really saying ssf is broken and needs fixed because it hasnt given players literally everything they want?

i dont rly get the aug cold thing either. why would anyone 'need' aug cold? if i say i need a mageblood for my build, ive farmed some maps and not found one, this is terrible, imagine how bad it is for a casual player in ssf to get a mageblood they need for their build... is anyone actually humouring that?

aug cold has obviously been put in that category of extremely rare lottery win drop. people need to accept thats what those harvest crafts are now. if you decide you need a mageblood or a mirror or 2 specific matching ascendancy jewels or a specific harvest augment and you go looking to find them yourself in endgame then cool, go for it, i wish you good luck. but if you are expecting to find them youre crazy.

these are things that have their drop rate set so low that most people will never find them even given many years of play. ive played 20k hours over 9 years and never found a mirror.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Aug cold still exists? I thought they took out all the targeted slams and annuls...

And yet this does _not_ make me want to play the game for longer and spend money. It makes me quit the game and spend my money elsewhere. Why should i spend money on something that is unrewarding? I already took several breaks from this game. The first was when GGG sh*t on my time i spend grinding and f*cked up the build i was playing.

And that is totally fair. To realize that a game isn't really designed for you, is something people experience every day.

I came to terms with the fact that PoE isn't developed or balanced around permanent progression a long time ago. Builds are temporary, progression is temporary (to a certain degree) and the game is - and will always be developed around 3 months leagues/cycles.

For me, I feel that the game does in fact respect my time, because it gives me new problems to solve, new build ideas and new content to experience every month. But I have enough time each month to experience everything as much as I want (even though I'm pretty casual, have a family and a full time job). But it all comes down to priorities, of course.

We are all different, and PoE can't be developed for everyone at the same time.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
i love character progression and once i get to a point where a single upgrade costs 50+ex i just leave even tho i have like 2+ mirrors in currency and items right now
i just don't think the next 1% increase in dps is worth it
example: 3 mod jewels cost less than an exalt, optimal 4 mod jewels cost 15+ ex for my build, the difference is something like 1% dps increase
i just don't want to farm hours/days for very small upgrades

also there are literally no upgrades to some of my gear on the market and i hate the RNG crafting system so i'm done until i decide on a new build
Post-campaign mapping burns me out.

During the campaign, I always have a proper sense of progress, my character is growing, my build is improving, a greater proportion of drops are useful.

Once I hit maps, and especially when I hit red maps, that's where things start to hit a grind. The flaws in my build are more noticeable and less able to be compensated for; character levels are slower to obtain and equipment upgrades are nary to be seen.

And while in the campaign where I don't often pass through the same area more than once, when mapping I'm constantly revisiting the same areas.

Title.

Im levelling a new char, my 4th one, and goddamn its like i havent played this game before. I still want to play the game but making a new char just killed my desire to play for a while. Im trying to level but i cant get my mind off the process and i just have no motivation to level the char. I cant focus on just sticking to a levelling build, im somehow always dissatisfied. I dont mind doing this 2 times but more than that really irks me.

My league starter took 6 hr to get to maps, 2nd about 7h, and my 3rd was 8h, ive played almost 3 hrs and im lvl 31 on my 4th. Im pretty frustrated. Most people take less time to level chars as league goes on but for me its the opposite.

I dont even look at the campaign as part of the game, to me its just 6 - 8 hrs of complete nonsense because i enjoy the part that comes after the campaign. I cant help but see the campaign as a complete waste of time. That gets the burn out rolling because games are supposed to be entertaining (i have a shit ton of gripes about this game but it still entertains me). Knowing you have to spend 6 - 8 (maybe more) hrs to "set-up" to start having any semblance of fun is really demotivating.

Anyway fuck PoE campaign, its trash. PoE2 campaign will be the same, trash. Spending time to make another character in an already tedious game is trash.

You are so contradictory. You say fuck the campaign, and then proceed to level yet another character. If maps nor leveling floats your boat then you need to go.
Well, I'll say this much. POE campaign is indeed trash.

It's why I stick to 1 char per league, if not 2 if i group play.

And as if campaigns aren't unattractive enough, GGG made act 1 and 2 harder so that they can repel new players even more. Might be a good thing though because there was a time I invited my friends to play poe, but now I no longer do so. Amongst those who did try the game, they couldn't stand the difficulty. First 2 acts are already difficult enough for non-pros who play this game, let alone new players.

They even spent resources improving loot etc... I mean waht for, no one is attached to campaign. Are they expecting us to spam campaign or something.

It's difficult for me to comprehend their roadmap. What I can comprehend though is game's been getting worse since ritual. Seeing the direction of the game pre-ritual league, it feels as if it was under 1 leadership, and post-ritual another leadership.

All the white knights skipping this post... like "Damn what to say, it should take more than 600 maps to get this.. ahh how do I justify that"
