2021 GGG profit = 45 mil NZD (31 mil USD) after taxes.
No one is "wrong". I'm saying that they should base their calcs on revenues and they did. The only mistake I see is that people are assuming that 100% of the revenue comes from players. We don't know that.

No the only mistake in here was you trying to tell a guy that he does not understand difference between revenue and profit.
Then you got called out on it. Now you are diverting the topic to some weird "but GGG may have a bakery" to take attention off your fail instead of just owning it. Its perfectly logical for everyone to assume that game developers customers are gamers and not baked good lovers, so thats what they do like they should. POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences. I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1. Last edited by Bosscannon#3325 on Mar 3, 2022, 8:28:58 AM

" Actually we do. It's in the report. ~94.2M comes from gamers, ~10M comes from licensing and ~0.3M is "others". What would take quite a bit longer to explain is the concept of "revenue recognition". It's also detailed in the report though probably not as easy to understand if one is not familiar with the concept. Buying something on the store does not equal actual instant revenue. Depending on what they buy it may be recognised over a span of 12 months and hence feature partially in one fiscal year and partially in the other. Unused points are for example not part of revenue (unless you become inactive). Overall the revenue recognition policies seem to be quite solid though and provide at the same time a lot of insight in what people spend money on (e.g. supposedly 75% of revenue is from cosmetic assets). |

Can we just all agree that's great for the game? No need for a topic to feed the doomsday prophets and self-proclaimed master accountants.

I can tell you this. In SSFHC last night it got fairly annoying every minute someone was asking why their filter was busted.
Not the same person is the point. People are logging in all hours of the day and night. That you don't notice is well, not indicative of how dead or not dead the game is. It's not dead. That I can assure you. |

did they not lost 20 % of profit from year before?

They actually did better in 2021 on a league by league basis if you accept Chris Wilson's statement that they make the majority of their money at league launches.
I would argue that they should've grown revenue in 2021 regardless since the game became more mainstream, and the negative changes to the game hindered that growth. There's no arguing that GGG isn't doing just fine though. |

" LoL. Bases his whole argument on someones forum post title and fails to read the actual document which was linked on first line and that has everything laid out in plain detail. [Removed by Support] Last edited by Lisa_GGG#0000 on Mar 3, 2022, 4:05:27 PM

" Glad to see someone else pick up on that. The big take aways that I can see is: They made a significant profit - yay. They have a heap of cash on hand - interesting. Their profit declined by a bit more than 20% in comparison to the previous year - that's not a pleasing metric. My big conclusion from this is: there's absolutely no reason they couldn't put on a number of additional resources to apply the QOL features desperately need, to add more people to the QA team to stop these stupid bugs that keep getting through or to otherwise improve the performance of the game. |

" Correct me if I am wrong, but it says "report for the year ended 30 September 2021". So if it includes only the annual revenue up to September, then it obviously couldnt be affected by Lost Ark and Elden ring. This year's report will be able to provide a clearer picture, although I doubt that LA can take many PoE players away, despite its massive popularity (game remains top 1 in steam charts despite release of 9.2 in Wow and new WoW raid, GW2's new expansion as well as Elden Ring, which is the most popular souls game to date).
