enough,time to go sleep.

Yeah, but 2 days isn't really out of the question. I'll confess that when I was younger there were a few whole weekend gaming sessions. And that was on a mud, which was telnet/text based. I would imagine it's easier now without the eye strain of reading small lines scrolling constantly.

I'm not saying it was healthy, and it's definitely not healthy now, but 2 days is more than feasible. 3-4 days is a stretch, short of a meth fueled session.

The whole situation is a catch 22. People who play for 2-3 days straight can find ways around any mitigation GGG puts in place.
Thanks for all the fish!

It's probably hard to prove account sharing across 2-3 days, since it's possible a single person can do it. It's not healthy, but it's not unprecedented.

10 day races just encourage stuff like this. It's short enough to encourage sleeping as little as possible during that window, and long enough that it's possible to avoid sleep most of the window.

Races that were a few hours were more reasonable.

they can look at the IP logs, multiple people would have multiple IP's...unless they all use the same VPN to hide their cheating

That would create a lot of false positives as well.

There are ways around as you mentioned by setting up and using a VPN server which anyone with a few minutes could figure out. They could also just be roommates taking 12 hours shifts, removing the need for a VPN.

And some people - like me - have "dynamic IP" meaning they are changed automatically by their ISP under some circumstances and sometimes randomly too. And some people - also me sometimes - use different computers with different ISPs. Etc.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

IMO they should limit the time during which its possible to XP. Best would be probably an accumulative method but even hard breaks would be better than nothing.
(Logging out or some such should not be enforced though as it just complicates access to stash and offline min-maxing while being unable to prevent it.)

People would just play on multiple accounts through separate VPNs. There is no real good way to police this, outside of recognizing certain things are beyond the human bodies capabilities, like a 10 day binge.

I was thinking about HC/SSF racings. You may be right about trade league here but for SSF I dont see any significant abuse potential.

Putting those 2 or 3 (or however many) sleepless days into perspective:

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaih%C5%8Dgy%C5%8D these dudes go for "nine days [1] without food, water, or rest of any kind".

You got some evidence to back up that claim?

Monks can be gamers too - see https://www.indiatimes.com/technology/news/young-buddhist-gaming-monks-won-a-mobile-gaming-tournament-in-thailand-believe-it-or-not-375136.html
