So streamers are not normal people to you? Ofc I was referring to streamers. If you work a normal job that is your decision. Expecting to compete with 3hours daily vs. 20 hours daily is ridiculous :D
i dont expect it thats why i dont even compete in those races. They are normal people but being a full time streamer to live from it is not that normal. I still consider a job as "normal".
Very few can live from full time streaming (those who made it, probs) but its def. not a definition of normal
I don´t know what sort of discussion you are trying to start here, but just for clarification: When I was talking about "normal", I meant one entity, playing alone without account sharing, without substance abuse and sufficient time offline that enables somewhat healthy sleep-patterns. I am not going to discuss with you why people that only play after work can´t compete in those events, its a ridiculous point. It would be the same as mourning over why you can´t run as fast as professional athletes that train multiple times a day.

What i want to say is, if you arent a streamer or unemployed and dont have the time to play 20h/day, dont compete in those races

It's probably hard to prove account sharing across 2-3 days, since it's possible a single person can do it. It's not healthy, but it's not unprecedented.
10 day races just encourage stuff like this. It's short enough to encourage sleeping as little as possible during that window, and long enough that it's possible to avoid sleep most of the window.
Races that were a few hours were more reasonable.
Thanks for all the fish!

IMO they should limit the time during which its possible to XP. Best would be probably an accumulative method but even hard breaks would be better than nothing.
(Logging out or some such should not be enforced though as it just complicates access to stash and offline min-maxing while being unable to prevent it.)

without proof of sharing the account there wouldn't be anything they could do. I used to work with a guy that loved meth and he would go on about his 3 or 4 day benders.
they dont need proof.
Terms of Service:
6. Licence: ... Any contravention by you of these Terms of Use or any other terms or conditions notified to you by Grinding Gear Games or any behaviour which Grinding Gear Games deems in its sole discretion is not in keeping with the intended spirit of participation in PoE, immediately terminates the Licence
if they determine that 'being logged in for 50 hours' violates the spirit of participation, they're free and clear to terminate that account.
ToS are only relevant if legal.
And GGG is also bound by their own deals with payment services and potentially other services. Far as I remember credit card companies have rules against not properly delivering something that was paid for. (Which may not apply if the user never paid anything though.)
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

they can look at the IP logs, multiple people would have multiple IP's...unless they all use the same VPN to hide their cheating

That would create a lot of false positives as well.
There are ways around as you mentioned by setting up and using a VPN server which anyone with a few minutes could figure out. They could also just be roommates taking 12 hours shifts, removing the need for a VPN.
Thanks for all the fish!

People would just play on multiple accounts through separate VPNs. There is no real good way to police this, outside of recognizing certain things are beyond the human bodies capabilities, like a 10 day binge.
