Can Path of Exile compete with Lost Ark and Elden Ring?

I mean LA hit like 540k concurrent players already, and its not even out in full until the 11th.

That's crazy-town numbers.

thats kinda sad af, lost ark beat poe's all time peak with just preorder players alone
well I'm VERY critical about poe and what I like and dislike about it. But comparing a full casual mmorpg to a niche game like poe is unfair.

LostArk is full casual so ofcorse will have more people playing. Poe is another complete diferent game and only the camera settings is similar to LA. In the long run eachother will not compete directly especially as poe these days is made for 2-5 days league...

It goes a bit beyond just preorders. Lost Ark is a free to play game and hit 540k day one with only people who spent at least $15 on essentially a supporter pack.

Really interested in seeing what happens on the 11th. I'm guessing everything is going to break under the pressure and it will be a huge ****show.

Not sure what orifice you are pulling "full casual" from. Lost Ark end game is pretty heavily skill based group content which is the opposite of casual.

The more simplistic combat in PoE and D3 should probably be more appealing to the masses, but LA has actual community content which is missing from both games. But the large skill rotations requiring good timing and the necessary situational abilities in LA are going to take a while to get used to.

same way lol/dota are casual although very competitive/skill intensive. Casuals just want to get in and play not open foruns, read patch notes, read guides etc etc. And LA is a pretty much just get in and play game.

EVE ONLINE is a hardcore absolutely no casual friend and niche mmorpg. LA is more like WOW.

D3 is indeed casual friendly but as it don't receive meaningful content casuals left a long time ago. But its the game u can just jump in and have fun. Poe no, just no.

I rly don't get why people need to play on the first day (beside streamers as its their job to do so). Like every single mmo/multiplayer game is bugged as hell on the first days. This "meta" of playing 2 first weeks then leaving is annoying and show how short attention span general public have this days. They jump to one "new shinny" to another "new shinny".

Like rly, u can still play mentioned games after poe league release OR u can play poe AFTER mentioned games release OR both games at the same time.

Streamers are paid to be online first day, I'm not. So I'll try these games but for sure not on release as my past experiences were miserable

For me part of the issue is with my backlog I'm trying to keep working on it and not fall too far behind, part of that is playing new games. It's also that the next two months we have a lot more games.

pokemon arceus legend
Dying light 2
forbidden west
sifu
elden ring
gran turismo 7
tiny tina's
ghost wire

Some of those I will be waiting for sales and such, but that's still a ton of games coming out during this league.

THOUGH for right now I'm partly waiting to see what GGG does with the archnesis stash as right now it's more a pain to use then not, especially a new char.
So, now that Lost Ark is being perceived as the long-awaited "PoE killer," will those who have been heralding it as such finally be decamping to that game's forum? =9[.]9=

The biggest takeaway here for me is how many streamers, that usually play poe, are now playing lost ark. Many of those who watch these streamers will (even if they dont recognize it) feel a pressure to actually play it too.

The current poe expansion is fantastic, but it appears that social pressure is stronger than any quality. I am curious to see how it will even out in the long run. I think poe leagues will become more and more shortlived.
Aside from limited time, what stops anyone from playing all 3?

Never understood this fixture on one game only. Playing multiple games and alternating them keeps you from getting burned out and also keeps things interesting.

I usually play the first 2 weeks of the POE leagues almost exclusively, and then I alternate with other games.

Modern gaming requires "dedication". You can technically play as many games as you wish. But you won't get to the "top level" or "1%". And there are always people who want to be at the top of their game.

If you play only 2 weeks of PoE casually, I suppose at best you can kill all bosses and 24 challenges etc. You can't get those mirror tier items or 38 challenges that the sweaty tryhards have.
