yea lets nerf hydrosphere. i cannot believe theres a mechanic out there that would dare benefit STRIKE skills

How about properly buffing strike skills instead of having them rely on an obscure weird mechanic that obviously shouldn't be in the game?

I don't want to have to pay 10 ex for a divergent melee splash and micro manage hydrosphere on all my melee minion builds because this garbage interaction is in the game. Problem is, if you're not abusing this mechanic you're losing out on running a support acting as the BEST clear speed increase gem aswell as a support literally granting you 106% more damage. It shouldn't be in the game.

Buff strike skills by 20-30% or whatever number is appropriate and make the initial "mini splash" formed from strike skills unable to trigger splash support gems. This would literal make strike skills as they were before 3.16 because this new "mini splash" thing that is now being abused with splash support gems and hydrosphere was introduced in 3.16.

and by making strikes skills as they were before 3.16, you mean... still abusing hydrosphere?
I'm just hoping that console gets 3.17

I wouldn't be all that surprised if they just drop support completely and either pull the plug or the game just becomes standard league forever. The sad thing is, they wouldn't even tell us ahead of time if they did do that. We would just sit there wondering why weeks later we haven't gotten it.

Why would Hydrosphere need a nerf? its own damage is utter garbage, and the ability to chain on it or double hit with aoes is working as intended.

It's not Hydrosphere that needs a nerf. It's the interaction between Hydrosphere and Melee Splash support gems where the small strike splash area induced by any strike skill can hit Hydrospheres to trigger a melee splash effectively doubling your dps.

This should be changed for the same reason that GMP shotgunning on projectile skills was nerfed. This interaction makes Divergent Melee splash the best option to use for both single target and AoE clearing, which clearly is something GGG wants to avoid. Moreover, this interaction makes Divergent melee splash act as a 106% more damage multiplier for single target. Most awakened gems are ~40% more damage mulitpliers.

The interaction is broken and should absolutely be nerfed or every single melee strike skill build will be gimping themselves by not running Divergent Melee Splash + Hydrosphere in the future.

Again; that's working as intended. Unlike shotgunning, it isn't abusing taking advantage of some timing agency to clip skills and hit excessively without having the attack speed/cast speed to back it up. It isn't a bug either.

It's literally part of the gem's mechanism.

I think it's funny that a Witch is whining about this interaction when their kit (Your kit) literally 100% ignores all resistances of all enemies with 60-70 minions to back it up, and usually kills 3 times as fast as those "melee interactions."

(I'm saying this as someone who plays mostly witch).

Then buff melee builds and remove this crutch interaction?

My problem with Hydrosphere isn't that it enables strike skills to do endgame. My problem is that it's so strong that I have to run it in my minion builds too because it's broken.

If you can't see why this is a problematic interaction that's bad for the game I don't know what to tell you. When GGG designs their support gems it's to serve certain purposes. Some gems are designed to be used for single target and others are designed to be better for AoE clearing, in general.

When a gem is the strongest gem in the game for clearing and as strong as 2.5 awakened support gems for single target at the same time you have a problem.
