Ya, they're good. Should nerf them coz logic.

I don't understand GGG or its playerbase.

Shit that reminds me, Hydrosphere nerf wen?

Why would Hydrosphere need a nerf? its own damage is utter garbage, and the ability to chain on it or double hit with aoes is working as intended.

Do you honestly think anything inside this thread, or this forum for that matter, will have much impact on how they balance the game?

I dunno..... Exile009 got them to completely remove the -Shock Effect build and the overleech builds based on their immunity, in the manner he suggested. All GGG had to do for shock was reduce the amount by which you could go negative, which would still let damage through, especially since the build generally meant you couldn't wear any belt buy Maligaro's or any weapon but the Fulcrum, and the fact that it deprived you of applying ailments to enemies.

And no. I'm in agreement that this thread so far hasn't given them any ideas. They are at least well aware of Bonshatter and Shade form's current state.

I think there is a difference between finding something broken, and a typical thread of commentary like this one.

I agree that if this thread uncovered something that was actually broken, then yeah, they would balance it because it's broken.
Thanks for all the fish!

Without knowing myself but some people consider it obligatory for raising DPS against single target. If it indeed does raise ST DPS overly I agree - it shouldnt be obligatory to use.
Known potential offenders are Strike skills with Melee Splash and Eye of Winter & Cobra Lash with some form of Chaining. (There are probably more.)

Eye of Winter may be the biggest offender because it allows you to use the '200% more' while still getting all explosion projectiles to hit the target. The resulting effective "base DPS" is much higher than what you get with Ice Spear. See this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/oshbi3/eye_of_winter_recap_315_interactions_clear_and/
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

It's not Hydrosphere that needs a nerf. It's the interaction between Hydrosphere and Melee Splash support gems where the small strike splash area induced by any strike skill can hit Hydrospheres to trigger a melee splash effectively doubling your dps.

This should be changed for the same reason that GMP shotgunning on projectile skills was nerfed. This interaction makes Divergent Melee splash the best option to use for both single target and AoE clearing, which clearly is something GGG wants to avoid. Moreover, this interaction makes Divergent melee splash act as a 106% more damage multiplier for single target. Most awakened gems are ~40% more damage mulitpliers.

The interaction is broken and should absolutely be nerfed or every single melee strike skill build will be gimping themselves by not running Divergent Melee Splash + Hydrosphere in the future.
Hydrosphere is a good example of something they can totally screw up if they change it the wrong way because it props up a whole bunch of skills right now, probably disagree that the melee splash interactions a problem though its awkward kinda like the pierce interaction with projectiles return.
yea lets nerf hydrosphere. i cannot believe theres a mechanic out there that would dare benefit STRIKE skills

How about properly buffing strike skills instead of having them rely on an obscure weird mechanic that obviously shouldn't be in the game?

I don't want to have to pay 10 ex for a divergent melee splash and micro manage hydrosphere on all my melee minion builds because this garbage interaction is in the game. Problem is, if you're not abusing this mechanic you're losing out on running a support acting as the BEST clear speed increase gem aswell as a support literally granting you 106% more damage. It shouldn't be in the game.

Buff strike skills by 20-30% or whatever number is appropriate and make the initial "mini splash" formed from strike skills unable to trigger splash support gems. This would literal make strike skills as they were before 3.16 because this new "mini splash" thing that is now being abused with splash support gems and hydrosphere was introduced in 3.16.

In 3.16 they made it so all melee "strike" skills and auto attack stuff from minions et.c. have a very small AoE splash on the target when they hit them. This small splash barely has any effect on clearing cause of how small the AoE is.

What you're able to do is abuse this with melee splash support gems and Hydrosphere. You're able to place a hydrosphere directly ontop of a boss or monster, so that this small AoE splash from the strike also hits the hydrosphere. If you then use Divergent Melee Splash which provides 106% Area Splash damage, you're able to make it so that this first strike hits the boss, then the small splash from the intial strike hits the hydrosphere, AND THEN the small splash that hit the hydrosphere triggers the melee splash support causing a Melee splash dealing 106% of the initial strike damage to also hit the boss.

Easiest way to solve this interaction is by making it so the initial mini splash from all strike skills can't trigger other splash effects. Simply doing that would just remove the whole double damage interaction without destroying the integrity of the gem.

Again; that's working as intended. Unlike shotgunning, it isn't abusing taking advantage of some timing agency to clip skills and hit excessively without having the attack speed/cast speed to back it up. It isn't a bug either.

It's literally part of the gem's mechanism.

I think it's funny that a Witch is whining about this interaction when their kit (Your kit) literally 100% ignores all resistances of all enemies with 60-70 minions to back it up, and usually kills 3 times as fast as those "melee interactions."

(I'm saying this as someone who plays mostly witch).
