Hardly.

It's not like they can win. A large percent of the community is shouting "REDUCE BLOAT", and when they take some steps towards doing so, the community screams "REDUCE BLOAT DIFFERENTLY".

By the way, are we really defining Talisman as a "mechanic" these days?

I agree, I personally do not like Prophecy and Talismans are absolutely horrible except for the Greatwolf one.
I personally don't understand the push to remove things that are completely avoidable and easily skipped. If you don't like it, skip it. Prophecy is one of the easiest things in the game to ignore. If you don't want prophecies, don't click the seek prophecy on Navali. That's more true now that you don't even have to worry about recipes.

Every time someone says to remove useless things in the game, they mean useless or "Bloat" for them.

I'm sure the bloat culling will eventually remove enough things that everyone is impacted and loses something they like.
Thanks for all the fish!

Prophecy is a relatively complex mechanic that works outside the drop pool.

I dont think it was removed for bloat, but that keeping it meant you always have to track this separate system of item drops and upgrades.
Removing prophecy feels like there is absolutely no impact to the game whatsoever and when it becomes like that, it is time to remove it.

I have never once seen a remove prophecy thread or anyone calling for it to be removed.

GGG decided to do this on their own, for whatever reasons they deemed valid.

I think it's a really poor attempt at trying to appease those of us that are really concerned about bloat, because as you said, it's so disconnected from the game already. Most people will hardly know its gone.

TLDR- This is not even remotely a bloat fix.

A lot of the bloat commentary is generic, leaving that feedback to GGGs discretion. If you look at the prophecy removal thread, there is plenty of people cheering it on because they view it as bloat.

If I were king for a day and *had* to cut something, it would be Maven followed by Blight. But I view those as skippable as well, mostly. Maven unlocks uncharted realms points, so I guess not completely skippable if you care about it. Either way, I just don't see the need to trim things down. I would rather they find ways to give players more power over what they see. Prophecy was a prime example of something that did exactly that. If a player wanted to do it, they just clicked Navali. If they didn't they could use Navali for card trade in and never care about it.

But it's done. Time to move on I guess.
