I know that gets thrown around alot "they dont balance for ssf". But if you ever have played ssf you would know that is not the case, every patch you can feel the difference. Less things are gated behind multiple layers of rng like in the past. For instance this league only one lab trial was needed to get into uber lab. This really only effects the ssf player.

And you're allowed to your personal opinions. But the answer here, is simple; that's not the game GGG wants to make.
The reasons for them wanting to center the game around an economy, are many. They clearly want a game where efficiency matters. Where strategies matter. They clearly want a game where items hold value, where you can progress without finding an item that is perfect for your niche build. An economy gives choices, options, goals and longevity for a lot of players. An economy brings a certain depth to the game, at least for players wanting to benefit from it.
Would I play the game if it was being balanced around SSF? Sure. Would I enjoy it more than now? Arguably, yes. But do I think it's the right (read: Most healthy) direction for the game as a whole? Absolutely not.
A semi-deep economy draws in a certain hardcore crowd that will play the hell out of the game just to "get rich", be that to brag, to make content or just to measure their "success". I think the F2P model thrives off of that crowd. And that's where the balance needs to be, for that crowd to have some sort of challenge.
The problem is that all this accomplishes is the terrible PoE problem that nothing good drops. It pigeon holes people into either a crafting slot machine, or paying someone else for your gear.
I dont know about most people, but for me, finding my own gear, and having better drops, just "feels" better.
Getting excited for a currency drop so you can buy an item from a rando PoE player, simply to further the progression of your build, is a really hollow feeling imo.

Also, meta crafts are way more accessible, no need to target farm those prophecies anymore.

It doesnt matter what players say. GGG is against that and always was. SSF was added for all those snowflakes who wanted to flex that "they did this solo". You have the mode, so you can flex now. The game will never be balanced around you tho, no matter how many times you ask.
I'm exclusively an SSF player; whether I tick the SSF check box at the start or not. I simply despise trading as it is implemented in this game; just no.......
That being said, I totally respect the way devs want to make their game. In this case, it's a me problem, not them. Sadly, there are a bunch of impatient, "manchildren" that want everything handed to them, and unfortunately GGG doesn't know how to deal with them, and therefore we have the game we play now; problematic to say the least.

Because they suck and like being sucky.
Believe it, there is no 'reason' that truly makes any sense.

It would be nice if the drops in SSF were higher but they could never cross over to standard. No migration, no SSF HC death item transferring.
I buy all gear and benefit from trade, however only because it is efficient not because it is fun.

And I agree. But as you say, you don't know about most people.
So I'll repeat: Personally, I would probably enjoy the game more if it was centered around SSF. But I'm not everyone, and I don't think it would be a good move. A lot of people love trading. A lot of people love crafting. A lot of people love finding awesome currency farming strategies. They love it.
And if the game was balanced so that 'most' people didn't need to trade, a lot of the market would be gone.

I'm not saying eliminate trade. You could still get good drops that don't work for your build, trade maps, currency exchanges, and more.
I dont think this is an either or scenario. GGG could absolutely increase drop quality and still have trade be viable.

Of course they should increase drops. They should've done that years ago. But increasing drops is one thing; to balance THE GAME around SSF play is a completely different matter.

Wait what's the downside again if the game is balanced around more solo play and better drops? Trade will still be there.
