It's vague because
1.) They don't know exactly what they are doing
2.) Spreading info while 1.) is in affect could cause false hope and confusion.

The totems are gaining the power charge. They have 0 maximum power charges.
This is exactly the same as totems gaining frenzy charges already works (and how power siphon works on RAT).

The totem used the skill, not you, so only it can gain the charge. But totems have 0 maximum for frenzy and power charges because they can't benefit from them.

This is on the table to be improved in future.

so 8 months later, where are we standing on this?

U can cast ice spear urself with power charge on crit + gmp, while ur totems doing dmg. Works really well if u want charges, but don't have crit build. With crit build i would recommend using frenzy, with way u would generate and share 2 kinds of charges ;)
This way u can also use other, better support gem on ur totem and easily double the dps of it.

Aw, just found this thread after testing it unsuccessfully. I hope they will improve this soon, I don't really understand why it shouldn't work, but I guess there has to be a lot balanced around it.

Because as it stands if Totems could gain power charges, even if they could only get 3, you could give your totem 3 charges, and yourself 7+(extras from items) charges, it would be too easy to crit cap that way. The player can still gain power charges with PCoC and Voll's Protector even with Ancestral Bond, as these don't require you deal damage, only that you crit(crit is rolled before damage and before AB negates that damage). You can run Frenzy>PCoC>LGoH>GMP on a 4 link and use Frenzy to maintain power charges, frenzy charges and your health. Your totems will take advantage of your charges.

A potential way would be to offer totem specialists the ability to get into charges without allowing them to double dip is to make Ancestral Bond reverse the maximum number of power charges between the totem and the player, in addition to its other functions. Tbh I'm not sure if its needed though really, totems are plenty strong enough already imo.

Hmm being dual totem means you can't do damage yourself (which is such a big hit).

But I believe you can cull. Culling requires a hit not damage. If so then culling strike with an area skill (self cast spark or vaal spark) + increased crit chance + power charge on crit.

Or power siphon (native cull). I'm assuming the power charge on a player will give the benefits to the totem. I'd link power siphon with GMP and chain on the wand or shield.

I'm assuming you chose the dual totem passive. You could use the chest piece as an alternative and refund the passive for dual totem. Then you can self cast for charges and have 2 totems. You'll be stuck with that chest which is 200 or so ES but totem life should be the same (level 14 + 25% totem life = lvl 20 spell totem.)
