Passive skill tree was a massive damage nerf to most builds.

So sad so much damage was removed from the tree, check almost any damage wheel. They disgused these nerf's behind the hype.

"Melissan liesss...Melissan deceives. She would turn Baalspawn against Baalspawn until none are left."

There you have it CW is secretly a cross-dressing priestess of Baal and plans to ascend as the new lord of murder at 4.0.

yep, kinda ruined the vibe for me yesterday. we'll see if they adjust gems accordingly. otherwise this is basically just another loss of a bunch of nieche builds while introducing almost no interesting new gems or build defining items

Not just nieche builds playing almost anything melee looks quite horrible, at least from the builds I have updated so far, it seems the less points you spend on the passive tree and the more you put into clusters the better....

The passive tree rework was to buff damage wheels up to compete with cluster jewels not force us to use clusters for all our damage needs.

Now the best pathing for any build seems to be to just pick up as many large clusters as possible as the main passive tree got a lot weaker.

This was certainly an interesting strategy from GGG. Just dont mention the nerfs, say the passive tree was "re-worked", and then hope that you can hype your way through the launch window.

Sure retention will be awful, but if they hit their revenue goals at launch maybe it will seen as a clever business maneuver?

I give Chris credit for having the stones to try doing it this way. Lots of side eyes on reddit and here right now lol.

Exactly, pure marketing. Post patch notes first without many skill nerfs to make everybody happy, then release Passivetree "rework" later with alot of flat nerfs to builds.

Not sure if they think players are stupid and won't notice or if they actually think this is a good idea.

In both cases i'm actually baffled...

At least they had a whole weekend of players being hyped and buying packs i guess.

If you look at the patch notes and see how many peoples were screaming pog, pog, pog, and how this is a huge buff, and how 3.16 is the savior, and they have done great job, compare to 3.15, you get an answer to the above question.

I was one of the first to shout it loudly that this is a big nerf disguises.

It was quite obvious from the reading.
Just by reading how they are explaining with the so call defenses nerf.
But you need just a little bit of knowledge to know what's going on.
The most builds are better than before.
I got lucky. Somehow my dom blow build has the same dps with the ability to easily cap spell block now.
