" You can do that right now. Just search through reddit/pathofexilebuilds, discord and youtube and you will find tons of weird and out their builds that can tackle simularcum wave 30 and all other difficult content. |

" "For the low price of 250 exalted orbs, you too can play one of the TONS and TONS of builds that can tackle Sim30 and ALL OTHER difficult content! Want to relive the glory days of Winter Orb or 2H sword Cyclone Slayer?! For only 250 exalted orbs you can relive these classics with a whopping 1.5m dps! Have you ever thought of playing a Spectral Throw build that can do Sim30 and ALL OTHER difficult content?! For only 250 exalted orbs, your Spectral Throw still won't do any of that shit, but now you'll be doing zdps in style!" | |
" Yeah sure I completed my first simulacrum with a wave of conviction elementalist that was worth roughly 15 to 20 ex at the time. But only meta builds can do it... seriously... Simulacrum is also not that freaking hard, its easier than the chaos that are fully juiced T17+ maps. You can make a build thats not killable in sim wave 30 but will get one shot in those "normal" maps. Always this fixation on "meta" builds in this forum. Do you guys even know what meta means? It does not necessarily mean best build or easiest to play. Often meta builds are defined by how easy and lazy they are to play not by their power level. Take the typical aegis spider necro/occultist. Its not the most powerful minion build, its not the most effective simulacrum farmer if you focus on minions but its super easy to understand, gear and play. That makes it meta. If you look at the power level you will see that for example chaos animate weapon or iron mass skeleton summoner are on a completly different powerlevel in terms how much damage they can dish out while at the same time are almost unkillable. The problem is, its harder to make a tree, harder to gear, harder to actually play well ect. Last edited by Zerber#2188 on Nov 30, 2021, 9:39:21 PM

That's actually part of the problem though, your last point. Meta builds end up becoming meta because of how much they can do with little investment, then often provide some semblance of scaling, or they provide top tier power for the experienced/wealthy.
More skills are falling into the category of "need a bunch of currency to function" category, which often pushes more people into those meta builds. Short league cycles exacerbates this issue a bit where the constant regular turnover means we have this "league start" meta where you pick one a handful of builds that currency farm with little investment and play them for a few weeks in order to fund the build you actually want to play after the newness of the league is wearing off, then do it again next league. 15ex isn't much at this point in the league but the game is busiest at the start of the league. If people log in and their favorite skills feel like garbage until they farm currency/atlas/crafting recipes for weeks with something like TR, they're more likely to just tune out. There's so many systems you have to have knowledge of and things to do, especially at league start, in order to open up more build choice and really enjoy the game. And by the time you get there, people are ready to play something else. Last edited by Toxaplume45#7624 on Dec 1, 2021, 2:21:05 AM

" A lot of people do not want to learn how this game works and than complain about the fact that they do not archive anyhting. If you are only coppying streamer/forum builds without actually thinking about why they did what they did in the build is it really the games fault? The whole premise of PoE is that its a game where you have to explore the possibilities yourself. This all reminds me of magic the gathering when I played it many years ago. A lot of people got really angry about the game because they lose all the time without realizing that they constantly lose because they have more or less zero real knowledge about how the game works. |

" Yeap, if you skip the meta starter you are going to be left behind and by the time you catch up, the league is half-dead and prices for gear that still maters are standard-level. Its frustrating. POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1. |

" You do not need a meta starter to get super fast to endgame. A lot of build work. You just need to know what you are doing and have a understanding on how to gear a build with basicaly just rares from the ground. |

" The problem is that 20-30% of the character's power comes from the passive tree, the rest is eq (cluster jewel is also eq ...). 5-6 link is also eq and they also give a lot of power ... for the game to be playable in the early stage, mid and end game, we should have a balance between the passive tree and eq. Eq should be able to influence the effect of the skill, not its power. In addition, 99% rare eq which we pick up is rubbish, in the end game you do it to get a good base for craft. The second issue is the problem with the huge RNG that is even visible in the crafting. Rolling over the desired sufix and prefixes is a frustrating affair. Every aspect, even craft, is one wolf RNG. |
