Chris on Ziz Harvest
OK, I haven't watched all of this yet, but I just got done with the harvest section.
I'm a casual player who plays a lot. I think Chris and the team is way off on this. I think he has no idea just how rare the good crafts are in harvest. He makes it sound like it's something you can just go after if you set things up right and go after it. That's just flat wrong. I've done a bunch of T14+ harvests and NEVER found an augment craft post nerfs. I've also seen many streamers say the same thing. I think Mathification said something along those lines with his own personal experience. 2nd, I just can't believe he justified TFT for harvest crafts and was not for developing a tradable good, like in Bestiary. What the actual fuck. Does he have any idea how much of a pain in the ass and BS is involved with TFT? I don't think so. He also justified this by saying that if the craft was easily tradable, then it's value would go down because more people would be trading it, so they'd have to make it even rarer. Wow, you're so out of touch with this mechanic. It NEEDS to be more accessible because it's so god damn rare as it is. And this is coming from the same team that introduced a craft system (expedition) where you can just spam even more powerful crafting options than harvest. I suspect this response is just an outdated, knee-jerk reaction that has no basis in reality. Last edited by Spurnshadow#0836 on Aug 19, 2021, 9:48:57 AM Last bumped on Aug 22, 2021, 1:25:42 PM

Chris has been adamant that Harvest will not be reverted or changed at all to be more powerful. No matter how much we believe him to be out of touch and wrong about it, it's time to move on and forget about it. It just isn't going to happen...

Even his arguments for soulbound gear sounded super out of touch.
I'm pretty sure many people would be okay having to throw away old soulbound equipment if they knew they can more easily obtain upgrades. At least I certainly would. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

It's pointless to try and get through to him. This is no longer Chris Wilson that used to engage with the community and listen to it (back in 2013 and 14).
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

Chris admitted the power of Harvest was a mistake. You're not getting a powerful Harvest back, even with the silly rarity of the good crafts that could improve without too much harm. The admittance closes that door.
Plus, he REALLY likes negotiations. This was not open communication, he was being a negotiator. I think he handles most things like this now :-). Taking such a stance though can create perceived distance for those who don't recognize the approach. Anyway, if you want more beans from an event like this, you'll need some tough negotiator on the other side as well. An open honest social context on concerns is low hanging fruit for a prepared negotiator. Or well that's my view. Cheers Did you try turning it off and on again?

" Thats not even close to what he said tho. He said Havest was in a dangerous spot because smart people can still craft insane gear whereas previously every idiot could do it. He didnt put in such harsh words but thats pretty much what he said. And he is right. If you do use your brain plus some investment, you can still craft insane gear its just not foolproof anymore. |

It's less about smart, it's more about funds. Like most (though not all) things in this game.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

I'll give you the tft thing (I mostly think they don't wanna allocate dev time to implement the tradable harvests) but otherwise he's right - either they remove the augments completely or keep it in but make it extremely rare. I'd much rather the first option. Adding harvest to the game was a HUGE mistake already, but at least they left it in there instead of completely removing & even have atlas passives for it.
Plus even without augments you can still achieve similar effect tby using the targeted rerolls in conjunction with meta-crafts. Its just more expensive to do this, which is good coz augmenting is very powerful - so its very high-risk high-reward as it should be. |

" Agreed. You can both see and smell it on Chris - in every podcast where he has to talk about Harvest. He regrets everything that has to do with it, down to the simplest rerolls. Harvest was like throwing drugs at people; it felt good, but was bad. Now people are addicted, and can't really see reason through their abstinences and withdrawal. They "need" it, and without it, everything is bad. Everything that comes out of their mouth, has to do with their addiction: Harvest. Is that analogy going to get me in trouble? Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
