If you want non-telegraphed 1-shots to be removed from the game, they'll also have to do a gamewide nerf to player recovery rates so that mobs get to have a meaningful amount of time with us at half health or less struggling to recover our remaining life before they chunk us for even more of our life. Logout is just a copout people blame for this issue - it's not even a thing on SC. What IS a thing on both HC AND SC leagues is overtuned player recovery rates. |

" Travel/movement skills are a reactive way to escape danger, there's no issue with that. It's practically what they're for. The problem is that we won't have to - if mobs don't kill us fast enough, we'll just heal right back to full. There is no meaningful amount of time spent in PoE at low health. That's only half because of enemies 1-shotting us. The other half is cos when they don't 1-shot us, we're at full health cos of healing all the damage dealt in no time. Okay, but lets nerf the lethality of the game before we nerf the survivability of the player and see how it goes first.
We can slow the game down, cut out some bullcrap to make the campaign the same length, and scale the rewards so that they come in at roughly the same rate they do with the current speed. Yes please. |

" but the thing is that the recovery is that insane because the mobs kill us so fast because they have to kill us faster than we can log out. if the recovery wasnt that ridiculous it wouldnt even be worth having because of how fast we lose life, it has to keep up with us losing 80% of our life in a second. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I'm fine with it staying the way it is if instead of a random white mob or puddle of grey death on grey ground or w/e killing me, Chris Wilson appears on screen and swats my character with a fly swatter. This way I'll really feel like the insect the game wants me to feel like instead of the god slaying walking disaster my silly ego and the lore of the game led me to believe I was.
They could add a random slip/trip to your character that you have no control over when you are moving so you can truly feel the weight of every step and die to packs of mobs that didn't technically 1 shot you. /s Sorry if I sound grumpy, Hillock won't get his greesy cheetoh fingers off my sword waifu. I still dont think being able to logout to save you is the way you should be playing this but adding some kind of system is likely to hard with the damage mobs do

" This sounds like 'chicken v/s egg?'. I don't think it matters which came first, the point is that they're all connected and so they'd all have to be changed. Maybe all together, maybe a few patches apart, but ultimately they'll all need to different from how they currently are in the end. And two of those three changes - logout timers and nerfing recovery rates - are player nerfs, and we've seen already just how well the playerbase responds to those things. By contrast mob damage nerfs are harder to even make out, so people may not be willing to believe anything much was changed at all in that regard. Which will then be made worse by self-selection effects - people will remember and post only those instances when they were still killed rapidly, even if that's much less common on average, resulting in a positive feedback loop which will eventually lead to a common perception of the changes as being insufficient (the same effect as when people note when a bridge falls, not when it works). They aren't ever removing logout, or prohibiting logout macros. So, you need to cope. The way the game is today, in a slightly worse version, is how it's going to be in 3.16, 3.17, 3.18 etc... |
