Expedition has had a slightly larger 7 day drop off than Harvest

On the one hand we're being told Expedition is a sinking ship of Titanic proportions with the worst nerfs the game has ever seen - unplayable broken builds and an impossible-to-beat Act 1.

On the other side of the ledger we've heard for around a year how Harvest league was peak compelling gameplay, the butchering of which has/is/will lead to an exodus and the death of PoE.

I was expecting much different numbers than the ones above.

I expect expedition to drop further and faster than harvest though in the coming weeks. Harvest had a massive initial drop but that league sustained its playerbase for very long until the end.

There's no incentive for players who enjoy playing the league throughout to stay in expedition because the economy and endgame is dead. (It looks like)
Alot of people left harvest, but those who didn't played the entire league.
I don't think the same will happen to Expedition. I think Expedition will turn out to be the worst performing league ever.

those numbers do look apocalyptic to me...drop of 45% in 1 week. At a certain point (which I don't what it is), the game will not generate the revenue to cover it's development and tencent's desire for profits. At that point, I would expect some radical changes to the "Vision" for POE going forward.

Company made 50 000 000$ profits last year. We are quite a long way before it can't cover costs. People have to stop with the doomsay already, PoE will not die if a league has poor rentention and low numbers, it happened in the past and it will happen again.

Also these "low" numbers are still 6 digits on Steam alone + standalone client + consoles. A game like Last Epoch would dream to do low numbers like that.

You do realise that you would feel more fulfilled if you didnt compare shit right? Comparing poe's highest peak to it's lowest is pepega. Im not talking about the league itself but the buff/nerf ratio. Expedition is a great league. And HARVEST was the best one. For me at least.
Still sane exile?

Even without comparing it is utter stupidity to say that company will not cover costs. Even if the peak would stabilize to only 80K like this league this game would be highly profitable. Even with only 40K peak a game is profitable, there is a reason why 50K is in top 10 most played games on Steam. Can you tell me with a straight face that a game that is even on the top 20 in Steam charts is not making bank?

Wake up people, this game ain't dying anytime soon.

A 45% drop off vs a 15% drop off is a LOT more than "slightly larger". That's like, triple the drop off!

Also, Harvest League and the Harvest that people loved from Ritual are two different things. In addition to that, Harvest League during the first 7 days was a different beast from afterwards for most players due to the set up time for the garden (whereas Expedition doesn't have any set up time for Expeditions, unlike Harvest's garden or Heist's levelling NPCs)

...but really, 3x the drop off is "slightly larger"?

Who said anything about company costs? Go home you're drunk. It's obviously that game aint dying. That shows only steamcharts. Does not include stand alone client.

The relevant information for my post is in the top right corner of the image.

On Day 7, Expedition had 46% fewer peak players than it peaked at on Day 1.
On Day 7, Harvest had 38% fewer peak players than it peaked at on Day 1.

Given that Harvest was the biggest power creep the game had ever seen and Expedition is allegedly the biggest nerf the game has ever seen, I would have expected these numbers to be much farther apart - given how prevalent the narrative is that 'power creep / zoom zoom meta retains players while heavy-handed nerfs make ppl quit the game forever'.

The numbers you're quoting I could have cropped out but exist on their own for another discussion analysis. What the bottom left is measuring is how each league compared to the league directly preceding it (Delirium for Harvest, Ultimatum for Expedition). Harvest did not have a '15% drop off' from day 1 to day 7. That is not what the bottom left is measuring.
