stone age it is

Just did my third deathless Simulacrum yesterday. Went smooth as hell. Still using a Strike skill. Melee isn't dead. Still not "META", but far from dead. Some ascendancy classes are more dead than others, though - and they need to do something about that. And buffing some very old, forgotten, underpowered and underplayed skills is a must the next two leagues.

I don't know, but I think the impale nerf was too high.

Haven't played impale after the nerfs, but I may agree here. But for years, pure physical wasn't even a thing - and far from viable. For a couple of years now, it has been THE best option for most melee builds. It DID need a little nerf, but they may have overdone it slightly.

Need to test to be sure. Ideas for a test build (except Cyclone?)

You can test Lacerate, Reave, Perforate.

These skills used to work relatively "well" without so much suffering.

With a good Paradoxica, Ryslatha's Coil, Chest with base crit + power charge, boot with tailwind, Abyssus, Aul's with Pride (to be able to use Skitterbots). Even with this investment, it has only half of a standard Ranger build of +-6ex. I could see this by comparing my friend's Ranger Ice Shot, who spent 6ex on his build and showed me his gameplay. It has an insane clear, and it also has a very superior single target.

I understand that not everything can be balanced perfectly, but I think they went way beyond what they should be. That is, at least in relation to pure physical + impale interaction with some skills I tested.
