Reaper Minion Shouldnt Exist

" Are you all going to do threads on the other skill gems too? Behead support must do what Chance to Bleed Support does, only better, or else you might as well take it back to the drawing board. Blade Trap needs to be better than Lightning Trap or it needs a rework before I even touch the gem!! Can't it just be unique and different and slot into the meta wherever it lands? Can it be its own thing without having to compete with every other gem it shares a tag with? Do you guys roast Herald of Agony because the builds that use it aren't like other summon builds? This thread is so weird. |

" First off, let me know when necromancers become the main class to use Herald of Agony. Currently it isn't, because the skill relies on applying poison which you have a myriad of ways to proc that would be better than other minions. Secondly, comparing one minion's performance with another is a perfectly valid form of criticism. If it's terrible compared to other minions, who is going to bother using it outside of niche builds? If it doesn't have high damage on its own, why would you use it over other minions who do? If it can't clear as quickly as other minions, why would you use over others that can? And what summoner is going to give up using animate guardian in favor of Reaper, when the guardian provides a massive buff to your other minions? At best the Reaper will be used by skeleton, SRS, and AW builds, but using it over an animate guardian and/or support spectres is going to be a hard sell. Finally, don't forget that the Reaper debuffs your other minions. Not only would it have to be worth replacing guardian/utility spectres, it would also have to compensate for the damage it's taking away from your other minions. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! If you care about other aspects then go be there defending your opinion. I do care about summons. I do care that we havent realistically gotten a good addition since the minion buffing golem. Summon AI rework was also a good step but it requires you to sacrifice gem slots to get any use out of it; rather than having it set up as an alternate version of the summon itself. Necros have gotten so little love over the years that its frustrating when they introduce a new 'summon' and then go on to showcase how its not going to be usable in summon builds that use actually good summons like Animated Guardian. Its like getting Skitterbots all over again. Cool a new summon. Too bad its only for... not summoners. I wish I loved Elementalist tbqh; id be so thrilled over getting frozen orb into this game. Actually I am in general thrilled about that; but its still not a selling point to me specifically. |

" I think it will play more like Herald of Agony and will see representation across alot of classes even if it is never good enough to become 'meta' - much like HoAg (which, I'm no expert, but I understand can be played on at least 3 classes viably Jugg/Champ/Pathfinder). It looks like we're going to have to have another damage source alongside reaper whether it is exploding minions or something you cast/attack with. So...I think you're right. It won't be best on Necro and it won't play like other minion builds. That's why no one should be comparing it to those other 'traditional' minion army builds. It says right on the skill gem it's not an 'army'. |

Can this thread die pls.

I can understand the complaining about the nerfs, some of the people are making good points about who is getting swatted with them - but it seems odd complaining about new and unique skills. It's a new option. If you don't like it, well, leave it be. I've been playing seven years and have yet to try out every skill.
Reaper is not hurting you by existing. Lateral game development is what we should be encouraging of GGG - not mudflation and loot power creep. |
