Leaving game Because it became a frankenstein's monster.
Remind me how is cyclone complicated?

" Sure, ill remind you that along with Cyclone you will use toggle for stances, Banners and most likely more stuff to make it good that weren't there before. |

I'm sad that They just kept adding new things to the game without rebalancing the amount of effort needed to deal with the old ones because it is becoming unbearable to those that dont have lots of time to play(it became for me).
For instance, they designed map system and thats was all there was. Lets say it took 30~50 hours to explore all of it. Then came an atlas with 164 maps and lets say that to open all of the atlas with awakened objectives (wich btw is a must if you intend to get any reasonable map sustaining and currency) took another 30~50 hours. That should be done during a single league. Atziri, Elder, Shaper, consort, beasts each of these adds another thing to read, learn aboutand then taking decisions. Then they added conquerors and Sirius, thats another lets say, 50~ hours total, to explore (and a few more hours to read and understand the mechanic). In comes delirium, now the atlas has passives together with dozens of thousands of 4 watchstone possible combos and atlas passives that takes another few dozens of hours of reading about, watching videos, trying to figure out what to combine with what. Not to mention Delve wich is a whole game by itself. It takes probably dozens, if its not triple digits, of hours just to understand and making good decisions about MAPPING. The point being it used to take 30~50 hours to reach endgame and now it takes 200~300 hours or more of play time. (not taking into account how long it takes of watching videos and reading about the game. That has no end. And by endgame i mean farming t14~16 maps, sirius, conquerors etc as easy as farming t1 maps because thats what you need to be doing to get enough currency to get the gear needed for 100% delirous). I think its reasonable to mention as well that some of the new watchstones modifiers are so rare, wich makes them expensive, and so rewarding that you just have to go for them even with limited play time, you gonna have to farm for an entire week just to set up up your atlas for a competitive farming strategy and by god you're gonna be doing the very same thing for hundreds of hours unless you want to spend 50 exa on every single map region so you can have a good farm option on whatever region you might be. Now there goes gods only knows how much hours trying to understand how to progress those and optimise, balance watchstones, sextants, atlas passives, master missions, scarabs, fragments, harverst, ritual, ultimatum, matamorphs etc just to step into A map and then having to figuring out how to Jun, how to optmize rituals, essences, and the few dozens possible encounters on a map. Now think how long one is gonna take to understand the passive tree and ascendancy and combine it with an imensurable amount of mechanics that are brought by unique itens. Then comes deciding between i dont even know how many possible variables of cluster jewels and basic jewels, corruption etc... that right there might take hundreds of hours to explore and understand it wich would be a good thing if you could take your time but you get 90 days because the meta changes entirely every 90 days so standard league is not a solution, i know that by my own experience. It was like playing a new game every single league and having to learn it all again, from delirium to harvest to ritual and i skiped heist, didnt even bothered learning about it wich i'm sure costed me a few exalts just by not knowing what was good and what was not. The check mate comes with the crafting... They have to spread the options of crafting itens as much as a game possible can. you gotta learn about beasts and do an event to get a single crafting option. Gotta learn about fossils, resonators, essences, orbs, quality of itens, enchants and each of these things you have an entire league to learn about wich if you didnt play is gonna take you a "oh my god not again, another video" hours to understand. Not to mention the fact that players that are patient enough to dewell on TFT discord make hundreds of exalteds just by talking to people on discord and selling the crafts instead of actually playing the game. Harvers crafts could just be orbs or other kind of itens so that everyone had the option to sell them and not only those that live for the game and have all the day to hang on a discord channel. You season all of that with having to deal with an unbearable trade system made on the stone age when you live in a time of humanity when really do exists real life "auction house" where you can buy almost everything and get it delivered to you at the distance of a mouse click or a screen touch, in a high % of the world so that you can come to a game thats suposed to be fun just to spend hundreds of hours trying to buy what you need( chisels, scarabs, frags etc, wich btw DO NO STACK ON INVETORY, WHY?????) so that you can finnaly step into the place where you do play the game wich is MAP. Dont forgget Having to trade for endless hours to get the crafting ingredients that you need if you decide you want a try at crafting and you better do learn how to craft or you're gonna be spending 50 ex on an iten that could be made for 15. I wonder how much i did actually played the game this league. Boy I loved this game to the point of worship and addction. I remember having chills during the years that i took out of the game to focus on my career just by remembering how good it was playing it and it did gave me strengh at the time to keep studying so i could have a confortable enough life to work and play it when i got home. I even wish there was premium subscription so that i could donate monthly without having to manually buy things so that I could support the game. But having money to support the game is not compatible with having the free time to play the game as it is. Last edited by rafa77#0776 on May 20, 2021, 8:22:44 PM

" You NAILED it. I loved this game. I've been a die hard 1st day league starter for the past few years. Every league I am super excited to get to mapping and slowly work towards some new build that is fun to play. Now I dread league starts. I dont want to spend 3 solid weeks of my life to "unlock" everything I did last league so i can start farming again. it really killed the fun I used to have in this game. Standard is similarly not enjoyable because there is nothing new or fun to do. Maybe if leagues were launched in standard concurrently I would enjoy doing that, but for now If they don't start trimming the fat and streamlining this game just a little bit, I am done for awhile. |

Last two posts +1000. Game is bloatware and it does not halp those systems are nerfed to the ground so it's a waste of time but recipes are there so you have to do em'
Take just Delve - was awesome in league. You could dark farm at 400 MPH with a pathfinder and scoop up 200 fossil per/hr and actually make something good. Nerfed. Plus fossils were good. Like had underground mods. nerfed. Drops were good. Nerfed. Sulphite plentyful. Nerfed. (but better now) Deep Deleving. Nerfed. Anyway now It's just a waste of time and tedious. But again recipes are there. Much is like this and only point of game seems to be finding the next rewarding gimmick in a sea of tedium. Temple useless except maybe 1-2 room. Beast 99% useless. Jun trolls you 99% of times with unveiling, Harvest lol, etc. Maps, the mainstay - Just rolling maps takes me 20-30 minutes in HO a stack 50 between all the shit you gotta do to them and the device and the watchstones for optimal returns. Extreme mechanics bloat! I don't trade anymore for exactly reasons you describe. PPL say SSF masochistic, naw man it's the other way around. Gimme a AH I'll trade. Git R Dun! I just learned that switching from a stance for map clear to a stance for boss killing with a button is complicated.

" Well, I agree that the button pressing isn't exactly complicated. Build design is, even for cyclone, although that's actually why I enjoy this game. What I don't enjoy is setting up my atlas every league (one month in and I still don't have 4 maven watchstones in the regions I want to farm, and scarabs are prohibitively expensive, so I can't really play "efficiently" the way I want to). Or figuring out what the good currency farming methods are each league, which are usually pretty niche and unintuitive. Or crafting. I don't like crafting. I was 100% in support of nerfing Harvest because I don't like item editors either, but the whole system is just so un-fun for me personally. I understand in theory how to do most of it, but I never ever want to. I'd rather have bad gear and be poor than craft, because this is a videogame and I want to do other things than that in order to enjoy myself. Overall, I agree with the OP's point that the game is just a mess of disparate mechanics piled on top of each other. And GGG balances around piling them on - if you don't, you're doing it wrong and won't make much currency or be very powerful. However, I also think sometimes players have unrealistic goals due to item showcases on Reddit. Or comparisons to other, much easier games. This can lead to unnecessary amounts of frustration or disappointment. We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

Word. Builds are the "hook" I can probably think of 400 cyclone builds alone. Hell I had one spec'd in PoB 155 MS while cycloning using the Fulcrum and 20m DPS exploding three screens at a time that I was going to do this league...but this league is weak and I'm burnt for all reasons stated here.
Here it is if someone wants to try it https://pastebin.com/Rd7piasb It only goes to 98 - because I wont do 1500 maps for 100 for obvious reasons if you read this thread but you could probably tweak a little more outta it Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on May 21, 2021, 2:25:05 AM

I spent more time on WoL dissecting raid/death logs, DPS numbers, etc than I do in PoE... literally 2h post raid 3/4 times a week.
Just sounds like you're upset other people play better than you/make more currency than you. 'Shrug' |

Op,
I agree that poe is unreasonably tedious and not rewarding enough. It is deliberately balanced that way, perhaps to regulate server load and foster interest in influencers. There is also the deep dark waters of what drives the rmt industry and who benefits from it. Since most sales happen in the beginning of the league, players are effectively a financial burden afterwards. GGG has no interest to completely alienate them - they both need to shop next league and keep the game relevant. Here is where influencers come in - they do not only attract new players, but keep current ones both off the servers and involved with poe. They do so in a few ways - they keep stringing frustrated players with hope (yet another get rich quickly strategy), demonstrate gated content and what it takes to do it efficiently, feeding into the previous point and finally they make abstruse mechanics transparent - how hidden delve nodes work, how betrayal works, how to craft and build guides. To simplify or to make the game more rewarding runs counter to their chosen business model. Also, note that the status quo is actually what some (ggg only knows how many) players prefer, at least partially. Personally, i love the complexity aspect of it and the variety. I like watching guides on league mechanics and lurking in gameplay help forums to learn about gameplay mechanics. I also like reading poedb for possible mods, reading the uniques' descriptions and brainstorming about a possible build in pob. When I'm feeling lazy I enjoy build guides and just thinking how to tweak someone else's work. When you push to make the game less cluttered, you are pushing for taking my fun away. Naturally, I have strong feelings about it. When we both push to make the game more rewarding, we oppose others' interests. The point is, there is no ideal poe that everybody likes, the sum of players' feedback and ggg considerations reads like the work of Aesop - a bunch of gung ho animals pulling the game in every direction and threatening to tear it apart.
